Question about Maytag Neptune MAH5500B Front Load Washer
Maytag Neptune washer MAH3000AWW, S/N 25130927:
After washing cycle is fully complete, at first NO water is visible in drum, but it becomes visible over time with no further use e.g. wash complete 9am one day. Checked frequently except late evening and overnight. When next checked at 10:30 next morning 0.25" had accumulated. I can hear no dripping sound when the machine is off.
When I turn the dial to just after the spin sign, and let it run through the rest, the water is drained away. The other day when lots had accumulated, I had to do this twice to get rid of it completely (I probably had turned the dial too far around the first time).
The DOOR LOCKED light is on throughout the wash cycle.
The spin cycle seems to work fine.
When we first bought the machine, we used HE powder and no conditioner. Later we switched to liquid wash and no conditioner, and then to liquid wash and conditioner. After a couple of years of the switch to liquid wash, we noticed the terrible smell everyone else has complained off. I bleached regularly, but it always came back. After one final bleach, I switched back to powder and white vinegar instead of conditioner. I have been smell free since - so I assume I have minimal gunk accumulated.
In the past (months and months ago) we have had the very odd occasion when clothes did not seem to be as spun dry as they should be. I mention this in case it is related.
I am currently in the middle of a timed test where I have turned the water off at the faucet to rule out a faucet leak, but I seriously doubt that is the problem.
I would really appreciate any advice.
It could be a leaking water valve. The MAH3000 has two flavors, the earlier model had (2) extra wax motors in the soap dispenser for the bleach and softener controls and the newer ones have the bleach and softener valves integrated into the water valve assembly.
Contact me via the www.neptunehelp.com site and let me know which serial number you have and I can detemrine which water valve you will need.
See www.neptunehelpsong.com for a funny new song dedicated to Maytag Neptune owners explaining the door latch wax motor issue.

You need to replace the rubber gasket around the front of the door. This gasket holds moisture and over time molds. Give us a call or email us and we;ll be sure to get the correct gasket out to you right away. We hope this helps and we hope to hear back from you real soon.
