GE spacemaker Microwave-Model # JVM1441WD003 no heat -clock ok

My GE spacemaker microwave is 6 years old and suddenly has stopped working.
Model # JVM1441WD003

Yesterday I heated some food for 15 seconds. Microwave stopped after 15 seconds on its own. I pressed another 15 seconds and it didn't start.

I tried again and set the cook time to 1 minute, it showed clock working fine, the inside light came on too, but turntable didn't move, nor anything got heated inside. A second or two later I heard a loud CLICK and the clock just ran out the time like always till the minute was over. No buzzing noise or anything to signify that the microwave was working. Tried again and things were just same.

I tried unplugging and restarting. It worked only once since, that too for a few seconds and then quit again.

HELP !!

Thank you MicrowaveSvcfor your help. It did fix the problem when the door was closed and held there with a slight downward push. I will now be looking for the door switch part replacement. You saved me over $80 bucks !!

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch or a loose door switch mount, which are pretty simple problems to fix.

Even though a door switch clicks, it may still be bad inside.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly.

Sometimes it's a broken tab on the switch holder, allowing the switch to rotate just out of position. This tab can be hard to see, since it is under the bottom edge of the switch.

If the mount is broken, it's usually more economical and safer to add a dab or two of hot glue to the mount to secure the switch. Let it cool for about 30 minutes before using.

One test that sometimes helps is to gently lift up (and/or push down) on the door or handle as you try to start it. If it works or tries to work, then it's a door switch mount or door alignment issue.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa:.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number here.

There should also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting & testing.

I have a ge model JVM1850. It is 6yrs old. Today it suddenly did not heat a frozen small item thru. Does this sound repairable or do I need to consider replacement? It is above oven.

well!!!!!! its 6 years old,,,,my bet is the manatron has failed,,,and thats a pricy part to buy and have fitted,,,
you may find in the long run its cheeper to just buy a new microwave,,at least it would be a new one and not 6 years old! and not a patch up job

Ge spacemaker runs but wont heat

Hi, there are three issues that will cause a no heat situation in a microwave. these issue are a failed Magnetron, busted cut-off fuse and, failed diode.

I recommend checking all these area that are located inside the microwave for faults.

The most common issue will be a failed Magnetron.

The diode and, fuse will be located on the noise filter assembly.

Constant rattling noise during operation

possibly the "stirrer" motor - this is in the top and turns a metal reflecting ring to disperse the microwaves around the oven more evenly. About $70 on GE site for my oven.

GE SpaceMaker Microwave suddenly stops while heating

I had same problem last week. My GE JVM1650 Spacemaker stopped after a few seconds of heating. Owned 16 months, manufactured Jan 2005. It was the magnetron, which was replaced yesterday. The magnetron has a 10-year warranty, but I had to pay $161.00 for labor by a GE technician. The call-out fee was waived at my request. I don't know what that amount would have been, but I can't believe the $161.00 for what was about 1/2 hour labor once diagnosed. Good Luck!
