Question about Dell TrueMobile 2300 Wireless Router (tm23003)

1 Answer

True Mobil 2300 can't find IP address

I just purchased a Dell true Mobile 2300 wireless router. During the initial set up phase, it tells me that the internet connection is good. When it begins it's set up to find it's own IP address, I lose my connection totally and have to manually reset my Comcast modem to restore the original connection. The modem and cables are correctly connected. Can anyone help me out on this. I'm obviously doing somethinmg wrong. Thanks.

OK...
since you have a comcast modem the router should automatically pick up connection, since you have already reset the modem, what you need to do is to check whether you are going online suing the modem, once you can go online using the modem, reset the rotuer as well, connect all the devices properly(the cables should be in the appropriate ports)turn off all the devices for 60 sec and then turn the modem, wait for the light to be steday, turn on the router and then the computer and check if you are being able to go online i am sure you will be,incase you are stuck let me know ffurther...

How do i put the static ip information into this specific router. truemobile 2300

You need to get into the ip address of the router's settings and assign a static ip address to the specific hardware you are trying to connect. Most routers use some combination of 192.168.x.x where the x is a combination of either 1 or 0. Check with the router manufacturer to find the correct ip address. Good Luck

Setting up a w.less repeater using an old w.less b.band router

Temporarily plug in wire network cable into Dell and log into Dell.
1. Set wireless up the same as the Belkin. Save these settings.
2. Set WAN to "Static IP Address and give it an address about 25 higher than Belkin. (Belkin 192.169.0.1 - Del 192.168.0.26). Save these settings.
3. Disable DHCP and Save these settings.
Exit web browser and disconnect network cable. Restart your complete system, first the Belkin, then the Dell, then your computers.
This way, the Belkin is running and able to assign IP addresses to all that start after it.

"Network settings" is a very broad term. I have to assume you don't have a manual to refer to to find the setting you need to change. Use this link to see the entire user's guide...

Need encryption code...

here is a trouble shoot guide for your problem. Please try the following troubleshooting: Are you using WEP or WPA security on your router? Log into the router using the default IP (consult your router's manual for assistance) Locate the "wireless security" section of your router settings and find the WEP or WPA key. If you are using 64-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 10-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. If you are using 128-bit encryption, the WEP Key must be a 26-character key consisting of numbers or letters A through F. The WEP Key must be a Hexadecimal (0-9, A-F, no other special characters or letters). If your router has multiple slots for a WEP Key, make sure the active key is the one in the #1 slot. If you are using WPA, the Wii console is compatible with the following types: WPA - PSK (TKIP) WPA - PSK (AES) WPA2 - PSK (AES)
If your WEP or WPA key is correct, then the problem might be related to MAC address filtering: From the router settings, locate the "MAC address filter" settings (also known as "access control", "access list", or "network filter" depending on your router model). If the Mac address filter is set to "enabled", then you must add the Wii's MAC address to the "allowed" list. You can locate the Wii's MAC address from the "console information" page (located under "Internet" in the Wii Settings). If the Mac address filter was disabled, then continue troubleshooting.

Check Nintendo's router info for special notes, if available, for your router. Click here to go to our Wireless Router lookup page. Use the drop-down box to select, if available, your router manufacturer. Click on your router's model number, if available. Read any "special notes" at the top of the router's page. Many issues can be solved by changing settings described in the "special notes."

Try a "Manual Setup" with the Wii console (how to), using your network's IP configuration settings. To access these settings: On your PC, click "Start" and then "Run." Type "CMD" into the field that appears to open a new window. Type "IPCONFIG/ALL" and press "Enter" to display a list of internet settings. Locate the settings asked for by the Wii console during the Manual Setup process and enter them.

Power cycle your router and modem by unplugging them both from the wall. Wait a few minutes, and plug the modem back in. Wait a couple of minutes for the modem to initialize, then turn on the router. Try to connect the Wii console online and test for proper response. if you require further assistance please let me know and i will be glad to assist you. -Midwest-tek

Truemobil 2300 cannot access internet via wireless

Is there a computer or another device connected to this router that can access the internet?

IF yes -- by wire?
IF yes - by wireiess?

The more of the above that is true the less we need to research.

Initially I will assume (until informed otherwise) your router is working both via the wire and wireless to the internet.

IF you have a working wireless computer --

When it was configured did you load an wireless SSID (name)?

Where you required to enter a passpharase, password or network key?

Did you provide any entries to the following fields during configuration for the computer's wireless.
IP Address --------- (like 192.168.1.?)
Subnet Mask -------(often 255.255.255.0)
Default Gateway - (router lan address like 192.168.1.1)
DNS Address ----- (maybe the router lan address or
---------------------------- as supplied by your
-------------------------------- internet service provider)

Being able to answer the above is a requirement for completing the steps outlined below

The generic connection and configuration document
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/setup/xbox.mspx

This is a good description of possible router options. These suggest strongly the creation of a static IP address for the XBox to enable all functionality in the online environment, if desired.

If you need assistance setting this up in your environment leave a comment on this problem and I will respond.
