Cracked Drum on LG Dryer Model #DLE2512W

My drum in my dryer has cracked and clothes are getting stuck in it now. I see several people have the same problem with other LG dryers. Has there been any recalls?

If not, what is the replacement drum item number, how do I order it, and how hard will it be to fix ourselves?

Also...my dryer gets stuck on 6 minutes for a long, long time.

I also have a cracked drum Model# dle2515s just 2 years old in Sept. 08, very disappointed in Lg products, had my washer 2 months & had to replace the front controls
.....bought LG because they were rated very high.....????

My less than 2 year old LG dryer's (DLE9577WM) drum is coming apart at the seam, and the metal is now ripping. It causes it to make a really loud thumping sound when drying clothes. We decided to use it for as long as we could before having it fixed. It started to catch clothes and tear them, so we are replacing it. Since the repairman wanted to charge almost $400 to fix it, we decided to do it ourselves. Hopefully, these instructions will get us through it!

I have same problem with drum cracking at seam on 2 year old model DLE7177RM. Repair man wants $416.11 to repair. This is a manufacturing defect that I think LG should stand behind. I Just e-mail their customer service and waiting to see...

I had a 2514 with a similar problem. Cracked drum. This is what I did to fix it. With the new drum. No noise at all.

Ordered drum from Sears parts. 3045EL1002D
Cost of 85$ + 15 to ship. It came in 5 days.

Here is how to do it on a DLE2514W. Takes about an hour. I only used a phillips screw

driver. Take your time and look over the situation. I hope that I rememberd

everything. Good luck.

1. Remove L bracket with 6 screws at the top, rear.
2. Slide top back 2 inches to unlatch and remove.
3. Remove control panel with 2 screws at top, inside corners.
4. Carefully unplug 4 plugs from back of control panel.
5. Looking at inside at the top. Remove wiring bundle from 2 guides.
6. Unplug wire from dryer light.
7. Open dryer door and unscrew 2 screws behind door just below lint trap.
8. Remove 4 screws at top of front panel that holds the door.
9. Lift up front panel to remove. I couldn't get the door switch plug to disconnect
so I carefully rotated it an set it on top of the dryer.
10. Remove upper case bracket with 2 screws in front and 2 screws inside at top.
11. slide up a bit to unlock from sides. Watch routing of dryer switch wire bundle.
12. Remove lint trap duct with 2 machine screws. Carefully slide down to remove.
13. Remove front drum support with 4 screws attached to sides. Lift up to disengage

sides. Lift drum to free from rollers.
14. Observe how drive belt is routed around motor and tension roller. Push tension

roller up and release belt. Carefully take belt off and remove.
15. Almost done. Lift drum up at rear to free from rear rollers. Remove.
16. While your're there vacuume up dust and reverse procedure to install.

Use JB Weld, Just prep the area with sandpaper and hold in place till cure! JB Quik is only 4 mins. I am using it on the outside and the inside of the drum as we speak! I figure I already need a new drum right???

Wish me luck!

Cracked drum lg tromm dle2512w dryer. is it worth replacing? dryer is about 3 yrs old

I'd say yes, especially if you replace it yourself to avoid a service call. Top needs to come off (screws at back, then push top back 2 inches and lift off), remove front, remove 4 screws holding front bulk head / front rollers, slip belt off tension pulley, remove drum, reverse to install.

LG DLE2512W Dryer says chech filter, starts, heats and turns but makes loud noise. Maybe something stuck? A sock?

Drying drum is not on its host. Lay down the dryer and then bolt it after aligning it.

LG Tromm Dryer Thumps when running

The drum on my dryer is cracked, it thumps the entire time it runs, and it snags up all of my wife's clothes. We hate these appliances!

Dryer thumps when running, clothes get stuck...

It always helps if you list the brand and model number in your post. I would look at the seam on the drum to see if the weld has cracked. (right at the front and / or rear of the seam.)

Cracked drum on the DLE3777W model

The drum is a part number 3045EL1002F which will set you back at least $135. Still well worth the repair, especially if you can install it yourself. You have to remove the top by removing 3 screws in back and sliding top back about 2 inches and lifting off. Then, remove front panel. Remove 4 screws holding the front bulkhead. Remove belt from drum. Remove drum. First time might take a hour, second one you do will take about 15 minutes.
Now, don't rate me down because you don't like having to repair your dryer. I didn't manufacture it. I'm just giving you a bunch of free advise.

Look for a crack on the seam of the drum, right at the front or rear of the drum.

Cracked Drum on LG Dryer Model #DLE2512W

If you are still looking for information on this:
No, there has not been any recall.
It is not a real common problem. I only see 1 or 2 a year, which is not many. (LE errors on washers are much more common, for example) The part number of the drum for a DLE2512W dryer is 3045EL1002D and lists for just over $100. You can find a service center to order the part from (in the US) at http://us.lgservice.com/index_b2c.jsp
I would rate the repair at about a 5 or 6 out of 10 on a scale of 1-10 in difficulty. (Basically, remove top, remove front control panel, remove front panel, remove front drum support, remove belt, drum comes out the front, reassemble.)
