Question about HP Computers & Internet

1 Answer

Computer monitor becomes distorted after boot up.

I have an Inspra monitor (flat) that works with other hp computers. However I have one computer running xp professional and the monitor displays fine on intial boot showing Windows Loading, but then as drivers or what ever load, the screen blinks to black and it looks like the screen is streaming up the monitor to rapidly to read. The monitor loads and works on my other hp xp version computers. I would like to put the flat monitor on the xp pro computer, but can not view on it. Does anyone have an idea. Since it works on other computers, it must be something that is loading inside of the xp pro at boot up.

Hi,

Download and install the correct driver for the monito as well as the deiver for your video card, if the video is onboard, you may need the motherboard and AGP driver as well.
You will probably need to boot in Safemode to do this.
Good Luck.

hi
if you monitor is old , it may be due to bad filter caps in the power supply section!
if its not that old then the cable is itself at fault!

Will a hp vp17 monitor work on a compaq presario?

All monitors will work on any pc/mac computer.
The only concern might be how old is the monitor (low resolution) connected to a brand new computer (high resolution). But it usually auto adjust at windows boot up.
Check the VGA connector (blue) or DVI connector (white) for the monitor matching the pc tower

My monitor boots up with a white screen only

Could be video card, cable or malfunction in the monitor, try another monitor to eliminate at least the possibility of it being a graphics card issue, thereafter, check connections from the computer to the monitor, if that fails, I'd suggest taking to a TV repairman

My monitor suddenly has become distorted. It appears scrunched horizontally, from both the right and left sides. The whole monitor image is visible, but it is distorted. I have checked the cables, reset...

Try connecting the monitor to a different computer (desktop/laptop).

If the symptoms persist, it's time to responsibly recycle the CRT, and to replace it with a 19-inch LCD monitor.

Hp vs17 has white screen at boot. I have eliminated the chord from the tower and the tower works fine. I have audio, no video. Only a white blank screen. It does not blink or flicker. It just stays white....

There are three choices here...bad screen, bad connection, or bad video card, if the card is integrated onto the motherboard, then that part of the motherboard could be bad. If you have access to another monitor or a TV with a vga input, try the computer with another monitor. If you get a signal on that other monitor then you know you either had a bad connection with the other monitor or you lost the screen on the old one. Go back and reseat your video connections with the computer off. Don't ever remove or move cables to the monitor and video with the computer running...the screen can suffer permanent damage. If there is no signal on any monitor, then either you have a bad vga cord or your video graphics card had died.

Hp w1907 monitor not detecting vgi input from original HP x3122 computer

It sounds like your computer has been having some trouble for some time. My hunch is that there is nothing wrong with the monitor at all.

Usually, when you see this warning on the screen that there is no signal, the monitor is trying to tell you that it cannot talk to the computer. This means the computer either a.) will not boot or b.) your video card in the computer has stopped working.

Does your computer make all the usual noises when you start it up? Can you hear the hard drive clicking and the fans come on?

Have you reseated the video connection on the back of the tower?

My guess is that something was going out before and it is now gone. The first place I would look to diagnose this problem is the hard drive.

Hard drives fade to fail sometimes, and when they are fading, the entire computer becomes painfully slow.

Hope this helps
good luck
tony

Laptop wont start up

I had the same problem. It is actually very common problem with the Maxin chip near the processor. The solder joins become cracked over time from the motherboard flexing when the lid is opened and closed.
A temp solution is to press down firmly with the palm of your hand around the F12 and leter P button areas. Make sure you do this with the laptop on a flat surface.
Bingo.. your laptop should then boot. However, moving the laptop may once again flex the motherboard and the unit will freeze again.

Good luck.

Monitor flickering and adjustment buttons locked

If the refresh rate is not properly set the monitor may have a wavy or an appearance that lines are going down ... This may also cause a flickering affect.
Distorted or skewed image on monitor. Issue: Distorted or skewed image on monitor.
Cause: This issue can occur from any of the below possibilities.
  1. Windows issue.
  2. Loose or defective cable.
  3. Refresh rate issue
  4. Interference.
  5. Bad monitor.
Solution: Windows Issue If your monitor has a proper display until it gets into Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows ME, or Windows XP please see document CH000121 for software or setting related issues.
Loose or defective cable You may receive a distorted image when the cable is loose or defective. Disconnect the video cable going from the back of the computer and verify that no pins are bent, burnt or broken. Once verified re-connect the monitor cable.
Refresh rate issue If the refresh rate is not properly set the monitor may have a wavy or an appearance that lines are going down or across the monitor slowly or fast. This may also cause a flickering affect. Additional information about how to change the refresh rate can be found on document CH000558.
Interference A distorted image can be caused by magnetic or other types of interference. Verify no speakers, fans or other magnetic devices are close to the monitor.
Bad Monitor If the above possibilities have been checked it is likely that the monitor is bad. To verify this it is recommended that the monitor be temporarily disconnected and then connected to another computer. This can be a friends computer, a work computer, and/or a computer at a service center. You can also help verify a defective monitor by connecting another monitor to your computer. Note: Connecting your possibly defective monitor to another computer will in no way harm the other computer.
