Question about Sony Cyber-Shot DSC-R1 Digital Camera

My Sony DSC-R1 refuses to read memory sticks

My R1 refuses to read the memory stick. I have to remove and reinsert several times before it reads the stick which is terrible as I am a professional photographer. Otherwise it just says "Insert Memory Stick".

I had one before, same camera, that had almost the same problem, except that R1, when you held the camera and if there was pressure on the memory stick cover, it wouldn't read the stick at all.

Can someone please help me with this?

The first think I would do is connect the memory stick to the computer and reformat it.

The next thing to try would be a different memory stick. If it is just a bad memory stick, and not a problem with the camera, this would resolve it. Or if a different stick makes no difference, it would confirm that the problem is in the camera.

Another way to test the stick would be to try to read it in a memory card reader attached to a computer. This could establish whether there is a problem with the stick without you having to obtain a new one.

13:01 error

Hi,

The C:13:01 error code indicates the issue with the Media used in the Camera.

This may be due to the:
Format Error of the Internal Memory.
Un-formatted Memory Stick Duo.
Broken Memory Stick Duo.
Memory Stick Duo type error.
When the Camera cannot Read or Write the data in the Memory Stick Duo.

This can be resolved by Formatting the Internal Memory and Memory Stick Duo.
If not resolved, try inserting a new Memory Stick Duo which is supported.
Try power resetting, remove and reinsert the Memory Stick etc.

This will resolve the issue, if not the Camera may require service.

C:13:02

After having formatted the memory stick with the cardreader on my laptop which runs on winxp I tried to use the stick in my sony dsc-p5 but all I got was the C:13:01 error message. So I tried to format it again but eith FAT instead of FAT32 which is the regular format on winxp. Now the disc adapter which I use on my desctop to read the memory sticks worked again with the stickt, my camara still gave me the message of not being able to read the stick so I removed the stick, got into the setup mode, reinserted the stick and formatted it with the camara. This worked, I hope this can help you.

I GOT THE PROBLEM IN MY CAMERA FORMAT ERROR C:13:01 MODEL DSC-P31 THE PROBLEM CREATED WHEN I TRYIED TO DOWNLOAD PICTURE

The Error message C:13:XX indicates that the Camera cannot read or write data on the Memory Stick or an unformatted Memory Stick is inserted in the Camera or the inserted Memory Stick cannot be used with your Camera or the data is damaged.

1. Try reinserting the Memory Stick several times.

2. Format the Memory Stick in the Camera.

*Formatting a Memory Stick will delete all the data saved in the Memory Stick.

Insert the Memory Stick in the Camera, Turn ON the Camera. Press MENU -> Memory Stick Tool -> Format -> OK.

Memory Stick compatibility information for you Camera:

3. Try with different Memory Stick.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have problem with my memory stickproduo 8GB

Sounds like the memory stick is damaged, if you cant read it in a reader or the camera there is not much hope try a new memory stick to see if the problem reoccurs on the new one, if so then the camera itself is damaging the stick when it writes the file

Keeps telling me to reinsert my memory stick

I will forward a link to a page where you can get the information about this issue.

http://www.kb.sony.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?cmd=displayKC&docType=kc&externalId=C166567

Also please check whether you're using a Compatible Memory Stick with the Camera.

It's not recommended to Format the Memory Stick in the Computer.
The Memory Stick should be Formatted in the Camera only, other wise such error messages can occur.

Please try using a different Memory Stick and check whether the issue persists with the other Memory Stick.
This is to check whether the issue is with the Memory Stick.

Sony cyber shot DSC H50 keeps reading "turn camera off and on aga

The error you are getting is because of either System Error or Internal Memory Error.

I think you might need to take it to Sony since it is brand new. But Before that, I suggest that you take out its memory stick, the battery etc and keep the camera like that for about 15 minutes. Then only reinsert the battery (fully Charged) and try to power on. If you are lucky, you might not need to go to Sony
