Question about Lands Phones

8 Answers

I'm on Orange with a Samsung E250. Recently, I bought a 4GB microSD memory chip and inserted it into the expansion slot at the side of the phone. The phone recognized that a memory chip had been inserted by showing a logo to that effect on the opening screen. However, when I try to access the extra memory, I either get "Not allowed" or 0MB available. I tried formatting the chip with my computer using FAT32 without effect. Files can be loaded on to the chip from the computer, so it works as a memory, but the phone will not recognize the space it should be providing.

It was suggested that the memory chip is not compatible with the phone. However, the memory chip was sold as "E250 Accessory", so I assume that it should be compatible.

Suggested to format card in "Phone settings" Tried that and there is no "format" option offered. The only reference to memory is "shared memory" not the memory card.

Suggestion that 4GB is too large for my phone. This may be true as I have been unable to find a definitive maximum memory size in the phone specifications. However (1) There is a comment in the phone specifications that by use of a memory card "the capacity of the phone can be expanded "virtually as far as you wish" I took this to mean that if you can purchase a chip, the phone will accept it; and (2) the memory adverts offer chips compatible with the E250, up to 8GB, again suggesting that 4GB should be acceptable. They even give how many minutes of video are possible with each size of chip up to 8GB.

    HI,

    Try this:

    1. Switch the mobile off. 2. Remove the card. 3. Switch the phone back
on without the memory card in. 4. Insert the memory card when the phone
is fully booted. BEFORE the phone has a chance to say "memory card
inserted" press the button to take a picture. A message appears "memory
card inserted..do you wish to continue?"..say "yes" and take the
picture. You can then delete the picture and the mobile should
recognise the memory card (until the next time you switch the phone
off, then you have to do this again)

Your memory card is too big for phone which is causing it not to read it. From my readings, your phone can support memory cards only up to 1gb of memory. That is as much that can be read from the expansion slot on your phone.

If you have tried to format the 4GB card in the computer, and still getting an error, "Not allowed" etc..
I did some research and found that this particular model of phone can only handle up to 1GB memory card. Try with another memory card, format it in the phone. You'll be golden!
If you are trying to save pictures or other multimedia, check with your mobile service provider see if they have a plan you can store your pictures on a web site. Instead of on your phone.

I have a Samsung Intensity cell phone. I bought a

The Intensity has a slot for a MicroSD card -- is that the kind of removable memory you bought? (Anything bigger won't fit.)

Turn your phone off, and then pry off the back cover by using the little slot at the top of the phone (near the camera). There's a little groove where you can slip your finger in and pop the back cover off.

When the cover is off and you're looking at the phone's battery, the MicroSD slot is to the left, just above the camera button on the side of the phone. Stick the memory card in the slot (it should only fit in one way) and then reattach the back cover and turn the phone on.

MicroSD memory chip

You need some form of memory card reader to interface with your computer. If you do not have a slot for it on your PC, you can purchase one for relatively cheap from any major computer retailer. Or, anyone who sells memory cards for that matter. Ensure it supports microSD (according to the photo and topic headline)

Good luck!
