Question about Denon ASD3W IPod Networking Dock Docking Station

1 Answer

Cannot connect to Internet

Just bought the Denon ASD-3W. When trying to set up the networking, after I choose the SSID and enter the WEP encryption key with DHCP ON, it says IP address unknown. I have verified that the encryption key is correct, also the SSID. Any solutions? Thanks!

Set the "Mode" on the "Details" as "Infrastructure" if you are connecting to a wireless access point/router

SSID is case sensitive, ensure that you have it entered exactly the same as it is on router
On WEP Key, use the 10 Hexadecimal key (for 64-bit WEP) or 26 Hex if (128-bit WEP) that is set on the router (0-9 and A-F characters on Key 1. Key 1 is selected as the default network key on the router).

Also, ensure that the DHCP is enabled on the router so it will issue an IP address to your device.

Once everything is set, power cycle your devices to synch your wireless connection (power off the router and the device and turn them back on in that order).

Hope this helps.

Have bought a new t v {panasonic viera} also bought a wireless LANadaptor to link up with my rooter for internet accessbut keeps asking for encryption key

Ken,

You need to use the same encryption key that you provided when you connect any other wireless device to your wireless network. If you have never set up any device to connect wirelessly, you should do so now. On page 12 & 13 of the manual, you'll find detailed instructions on how to set up and more importantly, secure your wireless network with a 64 or 128 bit WEP key. Once you have logged in and see the screen shown on the bottom of page 12, do NOT click on "Run Wizard". Instead, simply click the "Wireless" button. Make sure you make note of the SSID (or change the SSID) and enter a new WEP encryption key (do not leave the keys unchanged or blank!) before navigating away from this page. If you choose a 64 bit key, you can provide a 10 "string" consisting of digits 0 - 9 and a - f. I like to use a telephone number because they are the correct length and there are plenty I know "in my head" and never forget them. You can pick whatever you like. You might want to write this info on a piece of paper and tape to the router for easy reference later. You should not change any other values in the router's settings or you may not be able to connect to the internet.

If you have previously set up other devices to connect to the router wirelessly, you'll have to update them with the new WEP key and SSID (if you changed it).

Read page 30 of the manual to learn how to change the Username and Password from the default settings.

That's it. I hope this helps & good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you.

I WANT OT PUT PASWORD TO MY WIRELESS BROADBAND ROUTER SO ONE CAN ONLY OPEN OUR COMPUTER AND SELECTED PEOPLE CAN ONLY USE THE WIRELESS CONNECTION.HOW CAN THIS BE?

Log into your router by opening your web browser software, for example Internet Explorer. Type in the address field the ip address of your router. The ip address depends on the manufacturer, but it should look something like this - 192.168.1.1 . A window should appear asking you for your user name and password. If the router is set to default settings, the user name should be ADMIN and the password should be ADMIN. Hit enter. This should bring you to your routers configuration window. lynksisssid_thumb.jpgSSID screen.Go to your wireless tab / basic wireless settings. Enter a SSID (wireless network name). The SSID may be on a sticker on the router or you could make one up. Choose a wireless channel. Disable your SSID wireless broadcast. Save or apply changes.
linksyswep_thumb.jpgWEP / WPA screen.Go to your wireless tab / wireless security. Choose enable. Choose either WEP or WPA encryption, the latter is a more secure choice. Choose 64 or 128 bit encryption, again the latter is a more secure choice. Enter a passphrase and write it down so you can enter it when it is called for when installing the wireless software on your wireless computer. A hexadecimal WEP/WPA key should be generated. Save or apply changes.cheers

Denon ASD-3w ipod dock not being recognized by denon 3808

I successfully connected the ASD-3W to the Denon 3808CI using the supplied AV/Control cables (dock control, L & R audio, S-video). I used the video and audio input connectors marked VCR (iPod) on the 3808CI and used the default settings. I used the connector marked Dock Control for the control cable. These VCR (iPod) connectors are different than the input connectors marked VCR. I turned the source selector to VCR/iPod Stereo and operated the GUI using the ASD-3W remote control. I was able to play music and video.
