In order to help, we need to know the model number of your unit. Using that info along with the part designation we shoud be able to help. Also, in a more generic way, what is the problem with the unit that you beliveve Q902 will resolve?

Thanks,
Dan

51`s were positive ground and 6 volts. count the battery caps. if there is 3 caps its 6volts, if there is 6 caps its 12 volts. sometimes if its not original someone may have converted it 12 volts.

maybe earth strap to chassis from engine. put a multi meter from battery neg to engine, set it to DC volts and crank the engine. should read 0 volts if ok. will read about 12 volts if earth is knackered.

Blinking red light of death. 5 blinks. After holding power button while power on for 1 minute and then pushing agaiin I got 1 blink. Set has not been used that much as it is in the bedroom. One source...

Hi Billy,

5 blinks is an error code for 5Volts malfunction either on the P board(power supply) or the A board (main board).
1 blink is an error code for A board (no communication between the system CPU and panel CPU).
Since you've got 2 error code which are both related to A board, I've suspected that the A board is already faulty but you have to confirm it to isolate the P board from fault.

You have to check the 5 volts output of the power supply using the multimeter set in DC voltage measurement. Measure the output of the power supply board through connector P7. If you are getting 5volts on that connector you have to replaced the A board to resolve the issue. If there's no 5 volts output then the P board is faulty.

Faulty electrolytic capacitor can drop the output voltage. Let say you are only get 3 volts or less on the 5volts line, then suspect faulty filter electrolytic capacitor. Most of the time it has a physical indication of fault like bulged/dome at the top and can be easily identify through visual inspection like in the sample picture below.

11_22_2011_12_37_20_am.jpg<<< with dome at the top

If the 5volts line dropped its voltage, you have to disconnect the load and then re-measure it (do it very quick, don't let it turn on for a long time without the load). If the 5 volts line normalize after disconnecting the load (A board) then the fault is on the A board and not on the P board. If the 5 volts line still not intact after disconnecting the load, then the fault is on the P board (5volts line).

I've provided a link below for the suspected boards.

A board (Main Board)
P board (Power supply board)
Note : before ordering online, double check the part no. of your board that is printed on the white sticker on the board itself to ensure you will get the exact replacement. There's some instances that the manufacturer used different version of the board even on the same model no.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Ratings and feedback are highly appreciated.

Hope I helped you.
Have a nice day!

As reported before, there is no power in interior, vehicle will not start.,battery is fully charged. there is 12 volts at battery , and at starter relays bottom terminai,no voltage at top terminal....

check for corrosion on the large positive wire that leads to the starter. allthough you have 12 volts, but corrosion cant handle amperage. or it may be possible that you just need a new starter, you can remove the starter, and apply a seperate power source like a jump pack or seperate battery to verify that the starter is ok

CHARGING SYSTEM ALTERNATOR trouble in the alternator how to check charging system problem

Hi
Use a multi meter set to 20 volt dc range. Test the batery voltage by putting red lead on pos post and black lead lead on neg post. Record voltage. Now start car . The voltage should increase 2 to 2 1/2 volts above battery voltage. Now turn on all accessories in car . Voltage should stay at battery voltage or above. If it does the charging system is ok. If not the altenator is faulty or wiring is at fault.

put the leads of a volt meter on the batery terminals, pos to pos, neg to neg, check volts with engine off, start engine, and slowly open up and volts should rise to about 13,5-14,if no increase in volts then the charging system needs checking, alternater, recifier, connections,

Just finished 12 volt conversion on 49 V8 flathead. Starter engages but engine won't start. Appears to be getting fuel.

You might not have spark as the 12 volts needs a ballast resistor or the points burn out preytty quick. 8 volts at the coil in run with the points open and 0 with the points clsed and battery voltage at the coil when cranking. coil wire near the intake manifold while cranking should jump at least 2 inches. Closed points should be 0 volts at the neg on the coil. pos and neg should be the same 12 volts with the points open. if not either the coil or the points are bad. The condenser can fail and no spark with all the rest right
