Question about Dell Dimension 5150 (DIM515MIN) PC Desktop
Hi All, I tried to remove an old anti-virus from my Dell XP Pentium based Tower PC. Just as it was about to be removed using (Add or remove Programs), the PC went off and an Amber light started flashing on and off.
I spoke to a PC technician who thought it was the power supply so I gave the power supply to be fixed. According to him the power supply was worked on but the same amber lights flashes and the PC does not boot and one can not even here the Power Supply Fan working when the power on button is pressed. The only thing seen is the flashing lights.
This PC is about three years old. What could be the problem? Is it the Power supply unit or something else?
I had the same issue with my Dell Dimension 5150 and I replaced the front I/O USB Audio Panel and it booted right up.

Blinking amber states that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. Most likely the power supply gone bad already. If your Dell system is still under warranty, Dell can still replace your power supply and send you a service tech. Check the Diagnostic Lights found at the front panel of the system. If your system is working fine, normally you will see light 1,2,3,4 lit saying that your system is able to complete the POST process.
