"P" is Program mode. The flash won't pop up in this mode unless you tell it to with the manual flash button.
You might be better off starting in Av (Aperture Priority) mode and choosing the depth of field you want via the aperture setting.
The camera will then pick the shutter timing according to the available light.

Choose a smaller number (=larger aperture) for less depth-of field, meaning the background will appear more blurred.

Choose a larger number (=smaller aperture) for more depth-of-field meaning the background will be more in focus.

The flash on my Panasonic DMC-FZ100 doesn't work, I've tried 'forced flash' and thats not working either?

Hello Ray, This is not something a user wants to attempt !!! The camera really needs to be repaired by a tech. You will do more harm than good by trying to fix it yourself and will cost even more if you damage something.

Best Regards, Russell

My coolpix s4000's flash isn't working. It works every now and then but is not consistant. The auto flash is on. What should I do? I've only had the camera for 2 months.

The "auto flash" setting lets the camera decide when it may need the flash for a picture, but it is not 100%. You can go to your flash menu and set it for "forced flash" or "always" and it will work every time, provided that you give it enough time to charge. When the flash icon is blinking, the flash is still charging and it will not fire.

Flash setting doesn't work

Does your camera gave a small battery in place somewhere that is used to maintain the date and time settings? (it is generally a watch battery type small flat silver disk.) You should not have to reset time and date after each battery change.

Many digital cameras eat up batteries quickly, especially when using the flash alot., that is why it is important to use good quality rechargeables whenever possible.

I can´t make the flash on my samsung s630 work

On many digital cameras the flash is automatic. The camera senses the brightness and decides whether to set the flash ON or OFF. I would like to know what happens when you instruct the camera to always put flash ON irrespective of lighting condition? (You can do that by selecting left button on the circular selection button.. the one with lightning arrow)
Please let me know if that works..

Srinivas
