TV Problem

I have a Mitsubishi CS-35503 tv. When the picture is black, I notice areas
of the screen that are darker than others. For example, there is a
rectangle extending from the right edge of the screen towards the middle.
I don't notice this effect at all when there is a picture on the screen.
What does this indicate?

It is a normal drawback of this unit. It's the Luma Shading characteristic
of the CRT.
