Question about Logitech LX 300 Keyboard/Mouse

Open Question

Ok. Got this LX300, which looked damn good. The Keyboard is just fine. I have no qualms about it at all. The mouse physically is good. And those back and forward buttons are good for internet explorer.

Here's the problem:

About a month after I got it, I got notification from logitech about a driver update. I thought, "Ok, update driver. Move on." That's my usual routine. But when it installed, the mouse didn't respond. I restarted it several times, but it wouldn't work. So I rolled back the driver to the old one, and it still didn't work. The keyboard was fine, btw. On SetPoint, I could no longer get information about the mouse like before. It only worked when I rolled back to the standard mouse driver that comes with windows. After that, whenever I tried to install the driver that came in the box, the mouse wouldn't work, and it quite often stopped responding intermittently, usually when i was playing spore or programming something. Now, i have to keep it extremely close to the receiver for the it to even work.

I would very much like it if someone could present any possible solutions, as well as any software that might be capable of interfering with the mouse.

    Hi craigsco,

which operating system are you using? And - when you've installed the SetPoint software from Logitech - did you follow the installation instruction carefully?

    Please let us know...

    Greetings from Germany,

SOURCE: Logitech wireless keyboard doesn't respond

I also had a non-responsive keyboard that worked for a couple of days after installing. I purchased the unit over a year ago due to a great price. Since it was most likely out of warrantee and new batteries did not help, I open the unit and found a cracked solder connection on the positive battery terminal. I re-soldered the connection and it now works great.

Normal 0 Press the Receiver button (and the lights will start flashing.
Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the receiver.

If the MOUSE isn’t working, push the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the mouse to connect to the receiver. Then they should work okay.
Hope this helps. Bud

I have a nx2 nexxtech remote mouse. I replaced the 2 batteries (AAA) and it lights up, but does not work on the laptop. Any ideas what is wrong?

First, put charged batteries into your keyboard and/or mouse. Then, plug the adapter into the USB port. Then, press the big, round button on top of the adapter and the CONNECT button on the bottom of the mouse (not simultaneously). Then, press the big, round button on the adapter, and the connect button on the bottom of the keyboard (not simultaneously). Once the computer is on, click the mouse once, and everything should be working fine. If the mouse and/or keyboard do stop working, then either click the mouse once, try the connection process above again, or change your batteries.

P.S. The connection process is only meant for whichever part is not working (i.e. If the keyboard works, but the mouse doesn't, then only do it for the mouse.)

is your mouse and keyboard plugged into a PS2 connector
look inside of your case and see if any capacitors are buldging on your motherboard the tops of the capacitors should be level/flat if they're ok, sounds like they are going, look for brown rusty color also around tops of capacitors, might be your outputs are going. If you have your mouse and keyboard plugged into ps2 ports try a USB Mouse and keyboard, borrow one first or buy a usb laser mouse for $12 worth a try even if your ps2 ports are blown, use the usb ports for mouse/keys ;)
