Are you getting a continuous busy signal, or just five or six quick beeps then a dial tone?
If the latter, you have unheard messages on the voicemail system provided by your telephone company. This system records messages when someone calls while you're already on the phone. Please contact your telephone company for instructions on accessing their voicemail system.
If the former, please add a comment to this question and specify the make and model of your phone.
Here are a couple of options, 1) go to a wirless headset so you can hear the phone even if your not at the phone. I'm not sure how old this phone/station is but if it doesn't have a headset button option, you can get a cradle that picks up the phone when you push a button on the headset. 2) You can contact your phone system tech (whoever sold you the Norstar) and ask they install an external horn/ringer. This is very common in warehouses and manuafactor floors, etc.
The 52860 is a phone line powered phone. There may be a memory backup battery or capacitor but it should not effect the operation of the phone drawing dial tone. Perhaps the hookswitch contacts are oxidized from storage and using it is cleaning them up a bit. If there is a battery, it should be accessible from either the bottom of the phone or, more typically, from under the directory card on the base.
When you place a new or a existing SIM card from another phone provider into your mobile phone and it asks for a Security code then :- This phone is locked to the original mobile phone provider. You need to contact this mobile provider to ask for the unlock code (security code) for this phone. You need to provide proof of ownership etc and the phone's unique IMEI number which is located inside the phone under the battery. They use this number to generate the unlock code for your phone. They should provide you with instructions on how to enter this code into the phone. Once you unlock the phone, then you can insert a new SIM card in this phone or sign up with another phone provider using this phone.
You could ring the phone provider and ask for the unlock security code because you are going overseas and wish to use your phone with a prepaid SIM card from another country. This maybe a free service. The other way to get your phone unlock is to use a phone unlocking company on the Internet, they usually charge a couple of Dollars for their services.Use Google and search for "Security unlocking code” companies in your area. if you suspect the problem is with your device, then reset the phone by following the instructions given in the instruction book which came along with your phone..if it still doesnt work then check the connectivity by connecting some other phone(friend's phone) with your landline cable.if the new phone is also not able to receive calls then contact ur service provider..but if the friend's phone works with your land line connection then pls report again
Clean the charging contacts, this can be done two ways. The manufacture's recommend using a pencil eraser. I recomend using a q-tip and some rubbing alchol. Just rub the alchol soaked q-tip on all the metal contacts on the bases and the bottom of the handset.
