Panasonic 42" Plasma Television 2008 (4-blinks)

Panasonic TH-C50HD18 (TH-50PX80U) has 4-blinks on shut down. Replaced the A board (main board) and P board (power supply). No change. Unplugged cable from the SC board to the lower C boards. Panel fires. TV stays on. Changed each C board, one by one, still has 4-blinks. Is it possible I have a short in a ribbon cable, shorted panel or ? Any help would be great!

I have seen a fault where the Plasma display was giving sparkling green dots, and then the set would shut down after about 10 minutes. After waiting for about 40 minutes, I would re-start and the process would work the same, and then the set would shut down.

I tried freezing the boards one by one with freeze-spray, and heating with a heat gun to see where the thermo fault could be. I had no success.

Fortunately I had access to a scrapper set of the exact same model. After spending many hours with the process if elimination, I worked the fault down to be the screen itself! Unfortunately, with the scrapper set that I had its screen was very weak. Swapping the screens between the two sets proved that the original screen has failed.

I don't want to discourage you. You may be down to the point of what I reached!

My plasma wont turn on when i try it blinks red about ten times

Your tv could have blown a fuse and or a small cheap transistor or resistor on the main board...Sorry, but you may need a repair service man...Doing it yourself could be dangerous and cause more damage even to yourself! It shouldn't be too expensive to get replaced.

Power light blinking 2 times

2 blinks means the unit is having problem with 12 volt supply.
while power on you can check 12DC on power supply before shutdown.if the voltage is constant before shut down I would recommend to replace D board.

42" panasonic viesta plasma tv cuts off after about 30 minutes

Hello gws51,

This sounds like a shutdown circuit proble, which is caused by the draw of excessive current. I would suggest that you have a qualified TV repair person look at you set and repair it.

I hope this helps

Thank you,
