I just bought this printer and I cannot get it to work with my laptop, this is probably a stupid question but could it not be compatable to the laptop? This is a brand new laptop with Vista on it, could Vista be the problem? The printer seems to download all the way to the end and then I get an error stating there was a problem with the download. Thanks for your help

Re: HP F4200 Printer problem with laptop
Well, Janet...when it comes to HP printers, there are NO stupid questions - be assured (I talk from experience...)
The best way to go is:
Throw away the CD with the software. I'm not joking - those drivers are usually not up to date and give you more grief than help. (OK - just put it aside, but don't use it!)
Go to HP's support web page here and choose the right printer model. (Bookmark the following page - it contains also links to other helpful sites)
Select "Software and Driver Downloads"
Download the appropriate driver for your VIsta version (32 or 64 bit) - Look for something called "Full Feature Software and Drivers". This is usually the biggest available download and contains all necessary software for printing and scanning.
If you see any updates available, you can either download them as well or run the HP Update utility from your start menu, once the main software is installed.
If you have any questions, please come back and I am happy to help as much as I can.
