Open Question

Cooktop valves under knobs are locked

My Jen_Air cooktop JGD8130 was working but suddenly any of the knobs are turned to the OFF position, the ignitors continuously spark, and will not stop. it still lights a flame, but the sparks click.

After the sparking for a while, we remove the know to check any problem under them and we put back. Then the sparking stop but all knobs are alos locked up in off position and doesn't turned (the vavles can not open). we unplag and replugged that didn't help. I closed the gas and unplugged the stove cooktop. I do not know what to do to unlock the valuves. Please help

SOURCE: spark ignitor won't stop clicking

Dry the ignitors and see if that works. If not, then get new ignitors.

HOW TO UNLOCK JEN-AIR STOVE TOP MODEL# JED4536WR01

The All Off cooktop touch control turns off the downdraft exhaust

system and all surface cooking areas that are in use at the same

time.

The Lock cooktop control avoids unintended use of the surface

cooking areas. When the cooktop is locked out, the surface

cooking areas cannot be turned on by the cooktop touch

controls.

To Lock Cooktop: Touch and hold the ALL OFF/LOCK keypad

for 4 seconds. After 4 seconds, ALL OFF/LOCK will glow red,

indicating that the cooktop controls are in the lockout position.

To Unlock Cooktop: Touch and hold the ALL OFF/LOCK keypad
for 4 seconds.

When one burner knob is turned to ignite all four burners turn on.

What do you mean by "all four burners turn on"
Some electronic ignite systems turn on on all the burners, But just the SPARK not the gas part of the burner.
Is this what you are describing?.

Yes. Buy a burner module. Sears sells them also most appliance part stores. (I am assuming you have the model with 2 knobs on the grill side) The electric version of burner modules is around $100 Gas should be similar price.

Six burner gas cooktop

My husband figured it out.....when we took the knobs off, I, of course, washed the area they had been sitting on, thereby spilling some water into the open part which contained the wires leading to the igniters.  A short time with a hair dryer sorting things out.
