Question about Sansui VRDVD4005 DVD Player/VCR

1 Answer

Will not read DVD's

My Sansui worked fine until about a month ago. Now, whatever disc I put in, I get a "cannot read" error code C-104 message. Can this be fixed, and if so, how?

I am having a similar problem. My DVD was working just a couple of weeks ago and when I got a new DVR and programmed my remote to it the DVD/VHS combo read "incorrect disc" and "Err" on the panel of the unit. What happened??

Likely the alignment or laser.

The Sansui is a $50 DVD, in my opinion, you would be best served to replace the unit with a similarly priced unit.

I have a Sansui model VRDVD4005. When I put a DVD

I think you need to take it to the service center, because there's nothing that you can do all by your self. The problems starts from the optical lens/ laser pick up, replacing the lens could be necessary.

Won't play DVDs or CDs at all. Reads error code C-104.

To solve this Code 10 error, follow these instructions: NOTE: After removing these registry keys and rebooting, it may be necessary to reinstall any CD or DVD recording applications.
1) Close all open programs

2) Click on Start, Run, and type REGEDIT and press Enter

3) Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

  • SYSTEM
  • CurrentControlSet
  • Control
  • Class
  • {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
4)This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry.Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.
  • UpperFilters
  • LowerFilters
  • UpperFilters.bak
  • LowerFilters.bak
5) If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

6) After deleting the keys, close the
Registry Editor

7) Reboot your computer

8) Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives havereturned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that theyellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

Sansui VRDVD4005 will record DVDs provided they are DVD-R NOT DVD+R. I have one of these for 3 going on 4 years and I took it apart and cleaned the dust off the magnetic hub and that worked for awhile but (2-3 months) now I'm having trouble finalizing again. Someone on this site said it needs 8x NOT 16x disks ... 'cause it's an older unit ... I'm checking it out in the users manuel.

Will not recognize dvd discs

Welcome to the sansui got ripped off club...c-104 is more common than rain in washington...no disc? thats what the unit finally displays when it has taken a thorough dump. Give your sansui to someone you don't like, and go buy a panasonic.
