Question about Dyson DC07 Bagless Upright Cyclonic Vacuum

1 Answer

Beater bruch doesn't seem to be working as well as it used to

I've had my yellow Dyson for a couple of years and it has been very reliable. The last year or so it has been less able to clean my rugs. It used to really lift the nap of the rug and get everything on the first sweep but it doesn't do that anymore. Actually when I first turn it on the beater brush is very ineffective but as I go it gets better. Thanks in advance for your advice.
Sincerely,
John

HI
Sounds like the belt has either broken or stretched. You need to replace it as per the instructuion book

How to I change belt

Remove the screws from the cover plate on the bottom where the beater brush is. There may be a couple of screws holding the beater in, remove those, then remove the brush itself. On one side you will see how the belt goes in and around the beater as well as the drive shaft. Once replaced put it back together.

Beater bars not turning

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC23. This model doesn't include a traditional user-replaceable belt - the drive system is engineered to last for the lifetime of the machine.

If your machine is a DC23 Motorhead, please take a look at the video above to clear any obstructions from the brush bar and cleaner head, and to reset the machine.

If your DC23 includes an air-driven Turbine head, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to make sure everything is correct with your vacuum: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc23/dc23-animal/my-machine-is-not-working/turbine-head-not-working-properly/check-the-plunger

If you'd like some further advice from our experts after you've given this a try, please contact the Dyson Helpline directly - you can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

If a repair or replacement part is needed, we'll be happy to confirm if this is covered under your vacuum's 5-year warranty.

Best wishes,

Jack

The bruches are not turning I have checked the reset switch nothing on the bruch

Ok. First check your belt. Is it broken? Then if that's not broken, check the ends of your beater bar for a build up of hair, string, etc. This build up will stop your beater brush from working. If you can clear that stuff away well enough you might get lucky and have it work for a while. Otherwise buy another brush/bar.

My Dyson - DC14 won't push on my new plush carpet, front end

Same issue: new plush carpet, 7 year old tried and true DC14, wouldn't push across regardless of beater brush on or off. Called Dyson this morning, they suggested removing the small gasket between the floor plate and the assembly holding the beater brush. It's about a 12' gasket just under the screws used to remove the floor plate. Pushing is still a bit stiff, but it is a definite improvement. Whew!

Low suction

Hi Megan,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC17. If it doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual, you may have a blockage somewhere in the machine. To check for this, please follow the steps shown in our online support guide:

http://www.dyson.com/support/help.asp?article=954&product=DC17-ANIMAL

Although I note you've already cleaned the filter, please see the video below to check you've done it correctly. In normal use, the filter should be washed at least once every 3-6 months in cold water. Don't use detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for it to dry completely before replacing it.

This should resolve your issue, but if you need any further assistance, please call us free on 1-866-693-9766, or email askdysonUS@dyson.com so we can help.

Kind regards,

Jack

My Dyson Ball has gotten very loud lately and the beater bar seems "uneven". What can I do?

I had this problem too with my 2 year old Dyson Ball. The end cap that holds the beater bar in place was broken inside, causing the bar to wobble. I called the phone number that is on the side of the vacuum. Their support person had me turn the vacuum on so she could listen to the sound it was making. She knew immediately what it was. She took my info and is sending replacement parts at no charge! I was AMAZED at how easy this was, and very impressed by their customer service. SO glad I called them rather than taking it to a repair shop!

When I press the botton next to power button in order to activate the bruch for carpet cleaning. The brush does not spin anymore.

HighnTools posted this solution a while ago. This might be related to your problem: I have finally fixed my sister's dyson dc 15 beater bar problem. It was just 2 tiny broken wires connect to circuit board lead to the beater bar. The wires broke where they go through the black rubber gommet. You need a torx screwdriver tx 15 to remove 2 plastic covers to access the wires. When looking at the front of the vacuum, the gray covers located on the right side of the vacuum. 1 big cover with a black rubber gasket and other small gray cover is on the rotating ball area.
