"No Signal" for PS3 using HDMI cable

I recently bought a 42lg50 lcd tv. I was having problems with the picture, so an LG service tech came out and installed a new main board, now the picture looks amazing but my PS3 won't work.

I was playing it on 1080p the afternoon before he came over. He thinks it is a compatibility issue with the new software on the board. I've heard there is a patch you can download for the PS3 to resolve this issue. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Also, the sound doesn't work through my Time Warner cable box anymore. I also have this connected through HDMI, the sound worked before he installed the new board as well. I've also had a TW service tech come out and switched boxes and cables, nothing helped.

Any feedback would be great!

you didn't mention what software version your ps3 is. in this digital age it's important to keep software levels up to date, with some exceptions. i'm including the web address for sony so you can update the ps3, but i don't think it's the problem. once you're are on their site you click on the ps3 picture & that link will take you to the software update pg. there you can review previous software updates. i quickly reviewed 1 of those & didn't see anything that addresses your problem.

have you verified that the HDMI inputs are are enabled correctly? thereare 4 inputs. refer to pgs 25 & 26 of the owner's manual.

I would put the heat on your LG retailer. clearly the new main board is suspect. you had the functions prior to the swap. the board is probably defective, but with a different problem than what you had previously. i visited LG's site. they currently have nothing in their knowledge base that mentions the your problem, nor is there a software update.

if you need additional help. write back. good luck.

peace-out

I have an LG 42LH30-UA LCD. Using the HDMI there is a delay between picture and audio. Doesnt make a difference what HDMI cable I use or what source(PS3, Cable, or Surround). Any ideas?

If you are in Canada, call LG and they will send a service tech to apply a firmware update to your tv and input some codes. Apparently they used to send you a usb flash drive to do the update, but some degree of technical skill is involved so they now send a local tv tech.

PS3 problem with 42LG50 tv.

So I did finally find a solution....I returned my PS3 for a brand new one. Turns out it was my PS3. This is what I did...I bought a blue ray player, I connected the hdmi to my TV....no problem. So it wasnt my TV or HDMI cord. Returned the blue ray player for my money back, and returned my PS3 for a new one. Problem solved. Seems like alot of work, but it was the only way I could troubleshoot my issue. Just for kicks, try using another HDMI cord. I went through 3 different kind. Good luck.

42LG50, black is not really black

The most common culprit to signal noise is poor quality or defective cables that may have cracks. I would check the HDMI cable. Do you have any other devices with an HDMI output like a PlayStation 3? If the image is fine using it, your HDMI ports on the TV are fine and so would the cable. It could be the BluRay player itself. Since this is a LCD TV that uses a backlight, your blacks aren't as black as you may want. The TV may allow you to drop the level of the backlight so check the onscreen menu for options.
