I have a compaq presario 700 laptop but I can't get windows to startup. It just shows the screen with the loading bar but it never goes into windows. I also tried to use the system restore disks but they wouldn't load. please help

Compaq and HP are having issues with certain model computers, mostly boot failure and not recognising the wireless card. Go to the website and see if your model is listed.They are doing a free one time fix for these models, even if out of warranty.

motherboard is not alright. there are failing compaonents on the motherboard( capacitors, resistors e.tc). however, try to go to bios and stay there for some time and see if the same will happen.
Seems it is the Video card which has gone bad, If in case your system shows Compaq on your screen, os in that case need to install windows in the system again.But if it does not , Please get your system's Video card again.
