Hello here is the cpu list, for the asus board:

http://www.asus.com/Motherboard/P5QLCM/#support_CPU

Here is the msi site:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/B75MA-P45.html#/?div=Basic

Your current cpu will not fit on the msi board, because it is a different socket.

The asus board has socket LGA 775, and the msi board has socket 1155.

You have to buy a new cpu for the msi board, to make it work.

Here is the cpu list:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/B75MA-P45.html#/?div=CPUSupport

If you want to keep the socket 775, you probably have to find a used mainboard, because this socket type is phased out.

Some online stores still have this mainboard type available, but a new mainboard will have the DDR3 ram socket.

Good luck

Motherboard Problem

Your current CPU won't fit that board, your processor is a socket LGA775 and the motherboard you listed is a socket LGA1155, also called Socket H2, here's a link to several boards that you can use your current CPU in and that also supports ddr3 memory, hope this helps.

ASUS P5Q3 with Xeon CPU

Yes, it will work. However it depends on which one you buy. Here's one that will work with that particular motherboard.

First, visit this website. Now search for, "Xeon" (Without the quotes, though). Click the second result on the list, which should be the, "Intel Xeon E3110 Wolfdale 3.0GHz LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor Model BX80570E3110 - Retail." That processor is a 45NM LGA-775 processor, which Asus claims that motherboard can support 45NM LGA-775 processor.

Let me know if I can assist you further, or if I need to explain anything in more detail. If this solves your question, please rate the solution.

Compatibility

A8V-MXs are built for AMD processors. You will need a board made for Intel processors if you want to purchase the above processor. If you want to stick with Intel and Asus check out the P5 series of boards. If not, buy an AMD chip...I've had AMD in almost every one of my computers, laptops and desktops.

Good luck.

MSI motherboard

Hi,

First check thru visual if there are signs of burnt transistors and bulged capacitors. Check for open fuses and resitors, broken lines. And reheat the motherboard if necessary. Hope this gives you hint.
