That processor is a 45NM LGA-775 processor, which Asus claims that motherboard can support 45NM LGA-775 processor.

ALTHOUGH THE PINS WERE SAME BUT THE MODULE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH EACH OTHER.

A8V-MXs are built for AMD processors. You will need a board made for Intel processors if you want to purchase the above processor. If you want to stick with Intel and Asus check out the P5 series of boards. If not, buy an AMD chip...I've had AMD in almost every one of my computers, laptops and desktops.

First check thru visual if there are signs of burnt transistors and bulged capacitors. Check for open fuses and resitors, broken lines. And reheat the motherboard if necessary. Hope this gives you hint.
