I have Sony VAIO This system will not boot and brings up the error NTLDR missing. I know that is a file needed to get XP to run. I am pretty sure that the recovery console (chkdsk /r) will bring it back but don't have an XP pro CD to use. System came with its own custom factory restore disk, which as far as i know doesn't have the recovery console I have had this issue on another system before. Is the recovery console in XP home the same as XP pro? Would it bring it back? I have also heard that putting that drive in another XP system, will cause XP to fix its own errors on the other drive. Is that true?
please do one thing call sony for this they will be able to provide with a windows cd or if a ghost partition is available they would guide u with that but remember by doing that it would erase everything from the hard disk like your personal data
