So i'm using a 2wire2701HG-D i can connect to xbl just fine and microsoft is useless, when it comes to these routers it seems, as tried several solutions: however i have recently come across something intriging but do not know how to do it, I was told to give the 360 a static ip through the router or change it to dmz~ However! i cannot find my 360 on the router in the networking list, it's just the simple fact i want to use connect so i can load some music and vids onto my 360 elite~

Try different AV ports on the TV, if it doesn't work press the right trigger + Y, right after the console starts (this will reset the resolution of the console output) I'm assuming you are using the same cable that worked with another TV, so neither the cable is broken, neither the Xbox. It can only be an output format problem, bad configured or a faulty TV.
No one but Microsoft can stop you from connecting to XBL[Xbox Live]. Either you ran out of your gold subscription, or you were cheating on a game and Microsoft banned you. That's if you say it's not your internet.
The best bet is to try and clean the laser, if the unit is under warranty, contact microsoft and send it back, if not, dont use a laser cleaning kit, they are useless at cleaning and excellent at spreading the grime over the eye. Open the case, an online guide will help you learn the art of pulling apart the xbox, dis-assemble the dvd drive assembly and clean the laser using a cue tip or cotton bud. Good Luck.
Okay check the cable of the xbox make sure its not broken or KINKED could have a broken wire somewhere make sure the wire work try the wire on a computer to see if it gets an IP.
Check the connector too, make sure none of the wire are lossen up, if so then replace the connectors or buy a new wire. make sure its Cat 5 or Cat 5E. doesnt have to be cat 6. thats overkill.
if its wireless then check if your router has WEP or WAP enabled, then you have to get the Key to get into the router, and make sure the SSID of the router is correct.
If you have a game and your connected xbl it should ask you "You need to download this patch or you will be signed out of xbl" download, if it works dont worrie about the update, if it does download it to. If you realy want it search Spring update in google and burn that file to a disk.
