Hi all..
I have recently bought a sec. hand Compaq Presario 900 Laptop from a
guy who told me the CDRW wasnt working.. It has Windows XP Pro. with
SP2 installed(the guy told me). It plays no cds/dvds or anything.. but
Explorer shows the label of the disc always as CD-RW/DVD drive. When a
disc is inserted, the autoplay feature tries to play it (the disc
loading graphic on the cursor appears..) Even the drive makes the disc
spin.. I can eject the disc from Intervideo WinDVD program also.. I've
uninstalled the Drive from 'Hardware settings' and tried the hardware
wizard to reinstall it.. XP instantly recognizes the drive installs the
drivers.. but the same above situation continues... plz. provide me
with your valuable ideas anyone..
Thank U..

Just because it is recognized doesn't mean the laser can read anything.
It is defective.
