Hello to you all,
This I think is a bit of a wried one after downloading the most recent of updates from xbox live my xbox has stopped showing graphics and sound. There is no ring of death and I know its signing in to xbox live as I have a vista sidebar add-on that shows my gamertag and the last discs i've inserted.
It just won't show graphics or sound, has anyone came across this problem before, all help much respected as I've ask xbox support and even spook to a supervisor only for him to tell me that becauses it's out of warranty, a repair would cost. I replyed with the fact that if I didn't download the update my computer would still be working, his reply was to download the NXE update and insert it into drive but this cannot work as I cannot see the screen to allow it to update.
Can anyone help, Cheers Phil.

Re: My Xbox 360 has no graphics or sound after update
Actually under normal circumstances i would tell people that they had the same problem as the dreaded 3rrod and to either send to me or attempt the repair themselves. BUT ive multiple accounts over many forums and ive seen LOTS of people reporting the very same thing, soon as they do the new update they get the 3rrod.
in this case you need to ring Microsoft and tell them they are at fault and there are lots of others with the same problem. if they refuse to help/try to charge you then ask to speak to a supervisor or manager.
there is something in the latest update that is causing the 3rrod and similar problems. dont let them fob you off or break your console.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

It sounds like you've refused an Xbox Live Update at some point.
You can go into your system options and see if there's an update available.
To check for an update on the Xbox 360 you basically force a new Xbox Live connection:
Press the Guide button (center logo button), bringing up the pop-up menu
Go to Settings
Select System Settings
Select Network Settings
Select Wired Network or the name of your wireless network if you're on wifi
Select Test Xbox Live Connection
Select Yes if prompted to update. If you're not prompted and the test completes successfully, you have the most recent update.
Try to clear your system of the most recent patch:
"Solution 6: Delete and then re-download system updates
To delete and then re-download the system updates, follow these steps. Note These steps delete system updates that are installed on your Xbox console.
Press the Guide button and then select Xbox Home.
Select settings and then System.
Highlight your storage device (but do not press A to select it).
Press the following buttons in the following order:
On the Delete System Update screen, select Yes.
After your Xbox console restarts, select OK to download and install the system update.
After the system update is installed, re-download your Xbox Live profile and try to sign in to Xbox Live."
You may also be out of hard drive space if you're using a 4gb internal model Xbox 360. If you haven't already, find yourself a compatible USB thumb drive to insert, format and use as added memory.
It is possible that there is no room on your console to download the update. Make sure there is space on your hard drive/memory card to download the update then try again. I hope this helps and have a nice day!
The easiest option to update the Xbox 360 hard drive is to connect to Xbox Live. The console will automatically prompt the user to install any available updates. Alternatively, users can download the update files to a USB flash drive to transfer to the Xbox 360 hard drive.
Update via Xbox Live
Open the Xbox 360 dashboard menu. This menu automatically appears when the console is turned on. Press the "Xbox" button, followed by the "Y" button to return to the dashboard menu from a game.
Scroll up to the "My Xbox" tab of the dashboard menu.
Select "System Settings" from the "My Xbox" section of the dashboard. Scroll to the right while the "My Xbox" tab is selected to reach the "System Settings" icon.
Select "Network Settings" from the "System Settings" menu.
Select "Test Xbox Live Connection" from the network settings. A prompt will appear to update the Xbox 360 hard drive if your system is not already updated to the latest version.
Select "Yes, update now" to install the latest updates to your Xbox 360 hard drive.
Updating via USB Flash Drive
Copy the update files onto the root directory of your USB flash drive. You can download the Xbox 360 update files by going to download.microsoft.com/download/1/d/8/1d8c09be-278e-41cd-98be-eb9188128227/$systemupdate9199.zip. You must extract the files from the .zip file before placing them on the USB drive. The update files cannot be placed into a folder or the Xbox 360 system will not recognize them.
Remove the flash drive from your computer.
Insert the flash drive into the USB port on the Xbox 360 console.
Turn on the Xbox 360. An update prompt will appear when the system powers up.
Select "Yes, update now" to update the Xbox 360 hard drive.
when the new games came out, the console updates itself when you go to play the game. Look on the back of your console at the numbers. (not serial or part) You should see 2006 or 2007. It is most likely that you have an 2006 which means that your graphics card isnt strong enough to handle the graphics from these games. If you call up microsoft and tell them that the console had the 3 red rings (even though it doesnt) They will take your console, repair it, and update it all for free.
