They are made for ease of installation but unfortunately, not stability. Slightly bend the sides outward, making the shelves slightly larger.

First take some weight out of the shelves on the door. To much weight in shelves will make door sag.

Are shelving unit safer than floating shelves?

Probably...but it really depends on the way the floating shelves are attached to the wall, how much weight can they carry and how strong is that wall. Some shelving units are very poorly and cheaply made and they can collapse if you put too much weight on them or with time. But I think that there are more chances that a floating shelf will fall, god forbid, that a shelving unit.

Do the door hinges ever wear out

I did my own search for the same problem and saw Dougs question and lack of a solution. I have the same sagging door problem and was looking for a fix.
First, when I removed the weight of the items from inside the door, the door closes properly. This means that the door is not very sturdy and cannot hold the weight of items placed on door shelving. There are NO adjustment mechanisms on the door hinges either. Bad on Amana. The GOOD NEWS is that I fixed the problem.
Take out all items from the door shelves. I removed the top hinge with the door closed to keep it from falling. I took the door off and placed it on the floor. The lower hinge has a plastic pivot over a steel pin - remove that for a moment. Place steel washers over the steel pin - about .080" or so thickness. Replace the plastic pivot. Replace the door. Add the normal weight of items back on the door shelves. The door closes perfectly. At least until the door sags again and I'll need to add another shim.

Shelves not saying in grommets. This happens will

I have exactly the same problem and it is mostly because of the cheap plastic support brackets. I'd like someone to to offer a cheap way to "rig" it so it will support the weight of the shelves when full. Glad tyo know I am not the only one.

Water leaking inside of refrigerator from freezer

IT SEEMS LIKE YOU HAVE A CLOGGED DRAIN . CHECK YOUR CONDECER COILS BEHIND KICK PLATE .. AFTER THAT YOU CAN UNPLUG FRIDGE FOR 24 HRS WITH DOORS OPEN AND SOULD DEFROST ENOUGH TO CLEAR DRAIN . IF NOT . DEPENDING ON MODEL YOU SOULD BE ABLE TO GET THROUGH DRAIN THROUGH MOST FREEZERS .

Freezer Shelves are too small for freezer and keep falling when I put food on them...

I did the tubing solution others mentionedand it worked great.. instead of the 1/2" OD 1/4" ID reinforced tubing. I bought Polyethylene tubing at 3/8" OD, 1/4" ID.

Cut the tubing into lengths that will fit between the rails, split with a utility knife down the whole length. Use a screw driver to force open the end and slip the tubing over the rail.

Pic attached shows the tubing cut along side and forced on to the rail along with a pic of the tag that was on the tubing in an inset. I bought a 25' roll because i was in a hurry and not paying attention. I did 2 shelves, needed something under 1' per side per shelf. so I used 4' total for the whole project.

Freezer Shelves are too small for freezer and keep falling when I put food on them...

I had the same problem with the freezer sheles being too small in my GE Profile side by side. The shelves would simply collapse down with any weight on them.
After measurng the gap, I determined that the shelves were approximately 7/16" too narrow.
The fix I did was simple, effective, and very cheap.
I bought a roll of clear flexible polyethylene tubing at Lowes for about $5.The tubing is 3/8" outer diameter, 1/4" inner diameter (see picture below).
I cut pieces to fit along the side rails of the shelf, and then sliced the tube pieces down their length with a utility knife. I wrapped the pieces around the outside rails on each side of the shelf. It took a little work, but I got the tube pieces attached.
In a few spots, I did a double wrap of tubing.
The shelves fit tightly now and can hold significant weight without collapsing. Plus, they don't look too bad.
I hope GE fixes this simple problem in the future.
