Question about Mitsubishi WS-55511 55" Rear Projection Television

Mitsubishi WS 55511 rear projection NO SOUND

Mitusbishi 55511 - Had the t.v. sound on mute for a few minutes. After trying to resume the sound with the remote and manually - no sound. I tried the reset button, nothing changed. I put new batteries in the remote eventhough they had been changed fairly recently. It is like it is locked in Mute mode. Is it possible that the remote is just worn out, and needs to be replaced, Or something much bigger than that? I cannot find anyone on the site that has posted that problem, I just had a new Convergence chip replaced 2 months ago. Has anyone had experience with this?

I would like information on what might cause the no sound problem. I have someone who might be willing and able to fix it for me if I know where to purchase any defective parts, etc. He is good with electronics. I had a repairman replace the convergence, and it was very costly.

Thanks for the response and any info you may offer.

Thank you for the prompt response and suggestions. The problem is now solved. There was an issue with the Cable Co. provider. It was internal and they walked me through. I really should have called them first, but it did not occur to me that it could be the Cable Co. Thank you, again.

Let split problem in 2 sections to minimize it.
Please check is there TV Audio Out (at rear of TV) available by hooking any Amplifier / HiFi
If you get sound on TV audio out pins, that means sound amp chip is fried. And if no sound there that means sound digital circuit is bad.
Let me know results to proceed further.
    Thanks.

My television only puts out a pic in 480. The 720 and 1080 are not working. Getting sound no picture

No input on a WS-55511 is capable of 720p . Inputs COMP1 and COMP2 ONLY accept 480i/480p . Input DTV accepts 480i/p and 1080i . When using Input DTV with a component connection(YPbPr) and you get a green or no picture then you will need to navigate the menus and setup input DTV for YPbPr instead of RGB.

Press in together the menu button and the Device/input button on the set and hold them both in together for 5 seconds and see if the led will blink a two digit error code, then respond to this same post and let me know if it gave a error code and what the two digits were.

The DM board is the one with the digital connectors on the back panel. If you already have it appart, you may as well check the caps on all of the boards. The caps that go bad are typically Jamicon brand caps in 1000 uF and 330 uF values. There are also a couple of 3300 uF caps in the PS that cause problems.
