Question about Hampton Bay 52 In. Ant. Brass Redington III¿ Quick Connect Fan w/Remote, Light Kit

Hampton bay fan with remot problem

I have to Hampton Bay ceiling fans. The one remote was use for both fans. When it stopped working. I bought a new remote it works one fan and not the other. The reciever settings in both fans are the same but now the one fan does not respond to the remote. I use a electrical tester to and the power from the ceiling works. I think the reciever is bad. But this reciever is in the lighting housing and connects to the fan via a 7 wire plastice connector. There are only 3 wires coming out the ball going to the ceiling black, white and green for the ground. There is no pull string to power the fan moter or the light, everything is done by the remote. Is there a way to bypass the reciever or do i have to get another? Can a use the universal reciever that came with the new remote i bought?

You can try the universal receiver. The white, black, and green wires are the house wires. The receiver must match to these on one side. The wires on the other side go to the fan/lights. It is possible that one of these has come loose. If you try the universal, make sure the dip switches are in the same positions on both.

Or,

Take the fan down, and remove the receiver completely, from house wires and fan. (Make sure the breaker is off first!) Then wire the fan directly to the house wires. The blue wire on the fan is for lights. Wire it with the black wire in the same wire nut.

I'm assuming you have a wall switch that powers the wires coming from the ceiling.

By the way, I have never seen anyone control two fans with lights with one receiver. Usually each fan has its on.

My Hampton Bay ceiling fan runs only on high speed and the remote has stopped working even after changing the batteries. Does Hampton Bay have a life time warranty?

Yes, look up www.hamptonbay.com and get their contact number from them. It sounds like your transmitter (Remote) has failed. If it were the receiver the fan would most likely not work at all.

Need remotes

In theory, they should. Try Hampton Bay first, and if not, check for aftermarket replacements. Those remotes are simple enough that there is no reason that they can't.

It's probably the electronics inside the fan. They may need replacing. http://www.ceiling-fans-n-more.com/hampton-bay-ceiling-fan-parts.php
