Ok, I'll try that. Something weird is happening. Now my printer won't work either. AT&T came and installed AT&TUvers and dis connected Direct tv. Do you think that it could have anything to do with my problem? But I did use the printer after installation.

Uninstall the camera software, reboot the computer, wait a couple of minutes after your desktop appears, then connect the USB cable with the camera connected and powered on. You should hear a wave sound indicating that the device is connected at which point you should be able to find the device in "My Computer" and treat it as any memory storage device.
I hope this helps.

No don't run the setup from the CD, but you may leave it in the CD tray so that Windows may retrieve the driver if necessary.

Ok, the camera is displayed in My Computer. Now you just right click on it and open or explore and you should be able to transfer pictures. Make sure the camera batteries are charged and the camera is turned on. If it's displayed, Windows recognizes it.

I don't think the AT&T install would cause any problem. What is the problem with the printer?

Please try to print a test page (you can just type "test" in notepad and select print under "File") and make sure you point/select the correct printer when the print dialogue opens, then print. The default printer in windows will change for whatever reason and trying to print while pointed to another application or device will do as you describe.

If windows is listing your printer when the dialogue pops up then your USB card is probably good. You could connect another known working USB device and see if it works to make sure though.

Hp photosmart e317 digital camera downloads for windows 7 operating systems

You don't need any special software.
The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use Windows Photo Gallery or any other photo cataloging program, such as Picasa.

The HP Image Zone or HP Photosmart software is not installed on the computer. Install the HP Image Zone or HP Photosmart Software, or see Using Your Camera without Installing the HP camera software in your camera User's Manual. The computer is configured such that it cannot recognize the camera as a digital camera using the Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) standard. Set the USB configuration in the Setup menu on the camera to Disk Drive mode.

Down loading my photosmart R727

To download images to your computer, simply plug in the usb cable into the camera. Then plug the other end into your computer. Then you can download pictures by going to Start>Computer. Then double click on your camera. Go into DCIM. Double click inot the folder and start copying files to your computer. If you have an SD card reader, you can just plug the card into that and you can access your files through that instead.
