I have a sony ht-ddw670 home theater and it worked out fine until i purchase a different dvd player and now it doesn't play the 5.1 channels no matter what ( in auto or manual ).
The problem sounds like it is the dvd player, have you set-up the audio output menu on the dvd players setup menu? Some dvd units default to a 2 channel stereo output, what is required is you need to enter the setuo menu and enable a dolby digital 5.1 output or the DTS/Bitsteam audio output option. Also be sure to use a digital signal cable connection.

I just hooked up my BluRay player's optical to the system and I'm not getting any sound. In the "Input" options, there isn't choice to choose "digital", but the manual says it should.

I just bought the unit used... hmmm. Supposedly everything works. I am unable to get sound out of the "main" speaker jack. All speakers work but when you hook any of the speakers to this output jack on the unit that speaker will then not produce any sound. Is this a setting issue or is it broken. If it is broken how easy is it to repair ? Thanks, Ken.
