The motor is not made to be disassembled so the only fix is to replace the motor. I have removed the eletrical switch on top of the motor and extended the activating arm with epoxy so that it would reach the centrifugal switch. This allows the motor to start properly.

I just had that problem. The repairman pulled the front off the machine and found a small nail that had fallen through the holes in the washer tub. I didn't watch him do this, so I don't know where inside the machine it was, but he found it right away. Hope this helps.

Remove all the load and try to move the drum manually clockwise and anti clockwise. If you notice any friction check the motor separately and the agitator assembly separately.
It could be due to alignment shift causing a wobbly motion or a failure of the bearings.

The rubber ring inside the washing machine came out and a metal ring was under it, i dont know how to fix it?

that rubber is called the bellow. snap the bellow back to the machine. place plastic ring over it into the grove and work it all the way around. that metal ring should have a spring on it. use a needle nose pliers and pull the spring so it stretches, metal ring should snap right in place.

I have an amana Model ALW880QAW Top Loading Washing Machine. It sounds like a bearing is going bad when the washer is in the spin cycle. I am familiar with repairing applicances and I would like to know if...

I have an Amana top loading washing machine.. The machine recently emitted a burning odor and the machine has stopped spinning. when turned to spin cycle there are bumping sounds and it no longer spins. Does this model have a belt which might need replacing or does it have a transmission and does it sound like possibly extensive transmission work. If it is the transmission, is it likely repair costs would be greater than the value of this machine?

The motor does not run. But all other functions like washing etc takes place.

it would imply a simple belt problem maybe it has snapped or it has lost its tention and fallen off, remove power plug, remove the top cover, normaly a couple of screwws in the back, look down the back , some motors are at the bottom some at the top but the fly wheel is always on the back normaly silvery in colour see it turns by hand (nothing in machine) if it does it would be a belt, hope this helps

DRUM NOT SPINNPNG CAN HEAR MOTOR RUNNING

Hi

You need to pull the machine out from the wall and remove the back panel. This will give you access to the belt drives. It sounds as if the belt has either snapped or slipped off the pulleys. Be aware you may also have a bearing problem on the motor which has caused the belt to come off in the first place.

Hope this helps.

F51 error with Cabrio washing maching

This has been a troublesome issue for Whirlpool and may of Whirlpools customers. The F51 code indicates a problem with the RPS (Rotational Speed Sensor) that monitors the motor speed. This issue has been identified as relating to the the connection system between the RPS and the controller.

Whirlpool has changed the RPS connector design, providing a more reliable connection and is available as a service kit. The control has also been updated for better sensing of the RPS. Also, if you have experienced problems with certain wash loads getting tangled and knotted, there is also an update washplate intended to reduce this issue. You should contact Whirlpool for possible repair concessions related to these issues.

If you would like to get to the RPS.. Here's how:

In some cases, the F51 code can be fixed by cleaning the RPS connector. The RPS is located on the motor armature underneath the machine.
1. Tilt the machine backwards, resting the console against the wall.
2. using a disposer tool or suitable hex wrench loosen the center stator screw completely (the screw is captive and will not fall out of hole).
3. The stator contains a series of strong magnets and will take some tugging and wiggling to pull off.
4. Remove the 4 bolts that secure the armature to the tub. CAREFUL this assembly is a little heavy, support well before removing last bolt.
5. The RPS is attached to the armature. Remove and insert RPS connector (the one with 6 wires) 10 times to 'wipe' the contacts providing a cleaning action.

If I can assist you further, please let me know
