From a wired or wirelessly connected device do the following:-
1. Click start --> (sometimes settings) --> Control Panel --> Network Connections
2. Double click on the active connection which will say connected underneath
3. Click Support
4. Click Details
5. Now the Default Gateway value is the IP Address of your modem/router
usually, or
6. Note this value down
7. Click OK
8. Click OK or Close
9. Now open Internet Explorer
10. Enter http:// followed by your gateway address noted in 6. above
11. You will now have to enter a username and password
If the box has the username and password completed, then click OK
If there is no value for username try "admin" and for the password try one of the following "password", "admin",
Also try nothing for the username and "admin" for the password
Sometimes the value for these are written on the underneath of the router
On the left look for the WAN or WAN Setup in there should be a vlaue for the MTU
overtype in your new value and click "Save" or "Apply"

Lost encryction code

You will need to go into the router settings to change the code manually.
  1. Connect your computer via ethernet.
  2. In the address bar of your browser enter
  3. Go to Wireless Settings
  4. There should be a field with the wireless pass code. You can change it to anything you'd like
Unfortunately, there is no way to change the code without connecting physically with a wired connection.

I went to the actiontec router utility website. There is no item Beacon setting...

To boost up the performance of the wireless connection try the following.

  • Open the setup page of the Router / Modem.
  • Click Wireless and under wireless click Advanced Wireless Settings.
  • In there, change the Beacon Interval to 50.
  • Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304.
  • And change the RTS Threshold to 2304.
  • Save the settings. Turn OFF the router. Turn it back ON after 20 seconds.
  • It'll work.

How do you find your router web page???

Open the Command Prompt from the Accessories folder from all programs. Type "ipconfig" and hit enter. Note the Default Gateway ip setting - Enter this value in the URL address field of your browser and hit enter. This will open your modems settings page - read and select the page you need to change your values - such as the wireless power adjustment. There are some sections that will require a password to change - you or your ISP should know the password.

XBox 360 MTU Failed with Router

MTU of 1500 is the standard TCP/IP message length. Only MS Vista allows that to be changed dynamically. If your ISP uses 1500 then you need to use it too. Your Xbox protocol may be blocked by your ISP. You may want to give them a ring...
