No, it is absolutely integral to the operation of the device.
There are no arrows on the keyboard - you have to use the trackball.

Q. What trackball wireless mouse is compatible with Logitech K260 keyboard/mouse combo? Is it the Logitech M570 trackball mouse that works with K260 keyboard?

The trackball mouse will come with it's own wireless adapter, So you can use any model you want. Mouse and Keyboard are fairly generic devices and will install themselves.
So you can choose any trackball you like and it will work as expected.

My trackball doesn't move down on my8310 blackberry

Chances are it's just clogged with dirt

Ok. Follow this carefully cause more people break and destroy their trackballs by not following directions step by step

Carefully pry the grommet (ring around the trackball) off and set it aside. If you look at it. There is supposed to be only 3 pins. NOT 4 so if you have 3 your fine.

Carefully tip the phone over and tap it if you have to, to get the track ball to fall into your hand.
Then I suggest taking a cotton swab, and some alcohol, dip the swab.

Then run it all over the ball as you move the ball in all directions and free up what ever is in there, ie; dirt, dust, stuff from your hands...

Once the track ball can move in the down position or in a complete circle without any problems. Let it dry for like 5min.

Drop it back in carefully. Direction of the trackball doesn't matter. Then carefully put the grommet back in the exact way it came out.

Then it should work just fine.

I've used alcohol to clean mine many many times and never had a problem. Alcohol is different that water, it evaporates and doesn't leave a film or damage.

I hope that helps.

Try this http://www.unique-stuff.co.cc/fixing_sticky_blackberry_trackball.html They have some tricks to fix a sticky unscrollable blackberry trackball without disassembling. I try the rotating straw technique and it works for me!! I have my trackball working again now..

I have been having problems with the ball sticking and not moving

Hello!

You may have some debris under the trackball. Your best bet is hopefully your device is still under warranty and if it is covered, you may be able to get a replacement from your carrier.

However if you do not have this option....

Go to an online retailer like Amazon.com and you will have to buy a new trackball kit. These are usually inexpensive and come with detailed instructions. You may need a special screwdriver if the trackball your order does not include one.

If you do not want to disassemble your device grab you a box of LCD Cleaning Wipes ($2 @ Wal-Mart). These wipes are electronic friendly and won't damage your device if they are used correctly. First be sure to TURN OFF YOUR DEVICE! Then, take the corner of one of the wipes and roll your trackball with the wipe to spread the cleaner on the ball. Hopefully this will loosen or remove the debris that is causing your trackball to stick. IMPORTANT!!: PLEASE DO NOT turn your device back on until the cleaner is completely dry or you chance damaging your circuits.

Trackball Is Brocken!

Good evening!
Trackballs are VERY easy to replace! You can take it to your cell phone provider but there is a good chance they will claim the phone is broken.
I would recommend searching on Amazon.com, Ebay, or just googling Blackberry Trackball replacement. They are inexpensive, range from $2 to $10 depending where you look and the quality of the trackball.
I personally have replaced my Blackberry's trackball with a new one off of Amazon. It is very easy to replace. You just need to be careful with handling the trackball due to they are very fragile.
Here is a bunch of replacements you can look into on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=blackberry+trackball&x=0&y=0

Youtube even has a few videos on replacing the trackball.
Glad to help you out and good luck with your Blackberry!

Trackball not working

dear gridlok
Turn the BB off. Press and hold the trackball and roll it in all directions. that should dislodge any dirt and/or lint that is covering the contacts.

Next, dip a Q-tip in alcohol and rub it all around and over the trackball. That will clean it.

Turn the BB back on and it should work as it should.

Don't carry it in your pocket or purse without the case. or) YOu need to clean your trackball.

1: Take a deep breath and blow on the trackball area, rotate and do it again. This may blow any particles block the sensors.
2: This requires a Q-tip and some alcohol. Turn off your sidekick, wet the end of the q-tip, and gently clean the trackball while rotating. Be careful not to get the alcohol on anything but the trackball. Let dry for a minute and try it out. If this doesn’t work then try again.

Kensington 64215 PS2/ Serial Trackball on USB Mac?

Is the trackball supported by the MAC operating system? If available try the same setup, using the adapter, on a windows based computer to troubleshoot whether it is the trackball or the Mac.
