Is the garage remote infra red or radio? Does the universal remote support both modes of operation?
If it's infra red then simply follow the programming instructions for the universal as normal. If RF then you may need another type of universal remote control that supports RF modes
You likely don't need a new remote. Certainly not a Universal.
Samsung remotes for LED / LCD TVs are generally RF, not IR.
Most Universal remotes do not generate RF signals, so disregard advice about codes for Universals.
Try this:
First, fresh batteries, and clean battery contacts if needed.
Then, Try Pairing procedure:
TV off
Bring remote within 3 feet of TV
Push Pairing button (Paper Clip or other pointed object in button hole)
Turn on TV
Should be paired. Try remote channel or other buttons.
If not, try 2 more times.
If still not working, push RESET button first and repeat Pairing.
You didn't include the Sony Bravia model that you own - so I can't be more specific. If the TV is set up to use RF (radio frequency) codes instead of IR (infrared) codes; the universal types probably will not work. This is because most universal remotes are the IR type.
The remote included with your TV may have inadvertently be switched to send the codes as an IR type while the TV will respond only to RF type codes. It may also be that the TV was changed to respond to RF codes only. Either way, check your manual (or your TV menu settings) to see how to set the TV and the remote to work in the same mode.
If you can't find your manual, reply with your TV's model number - and if possible the remote's model number, too. I'll see what I can find that is specific to your TV.
I hope this helps & good luck. Please rate my reply. Thank you.
yes I have a lifestyle 235, bose remote is rf but system also supports ir. Prestigo picked up most button and by going into setup on the bose and entering teach mode the prestigo learned the missing buttons.
