Fuji Finepix F31FD Digital Camera

Can not import from Fuji FinePix f31fd

By Lizzy - usenet poster

Hello all,

I have a Fuji FinePix f31fd camera and am running Windows 2000 Pro. I
have switched the USB port the camera is plugged into. I have
uninstalled the software that came with the camera and software that
came with a previous camera. I have installed the Fuji USB drivers.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Picasa 2.6.0. I have rebooted my
computer.

Picasa doesn't even seem to see the camera. The camera does not show
up in the "select device" options and I do not see another place to
tell Picasa about my camera.

I am still unable to import from my camera. What should I do next?

I am a bit confused. Why would I get a card reader? The camera
connects to my computer just fine.

There was no problem with getting the pictures with the Fuji FinePix
Viewer. I simply don't like it and wanted to use Picasa since it
claims to be able to do it.

As mentioned in my first post, I installed the updated USB drivers.
I'll check when I get home from work if it is the same one you
suggested.

Thanks again for your additional assistance.

Get a card reader. It doesn't need the camera software. DO NOT use
the "safe delete" function. Immediately burn TWO backup copies.
Format the card in the camera AFTER you confirm the files have
transferred and the backups are good.

After further investigation your camera only has PTP mode.

I would download both the updated USB drivers for your camera from
Fuji (#
USBdrvWin2K.exe) and the update to Fuji FinePix Viewer (http://
#)
and see you can use FinePix Viewer to get images off your camera...
because if you can't I suspect something is wrong with your camera or
the physical connection (usb cable).

You'll need to install FinePix Viewer off the CD that came with your
camera before you can install the update.

Another option is try to connect your camera to another PC.

Thank you Anthony for your suggestions.

Windows does not see the camera in My Computer. It never has. But
the camera was able to work with other software.

I searched through the menus but did not find an option to change the
USB Connection type.

Does Windows see you camera (in "My Computer")?

You might see if your camera has a "USB Connection type" setting.
Switch it from PTP to Mass Storage and try it.
