Kenmore 70 series dryer squeaked, heated, drum turned, then turned off and won't come back on--is it toast or worth fixing?

It all depends on how you look at things.
Comparatively speaking, dryers are a piece of cake.
However, with out mechanical ability and tools, it could be over your head.
You decide.
If you choose to fix it yourself, it could be done for a few dozen dollars.
Hiring a repair man could make it cheaper to buy a new one.
New parts are available through "Sears parts" on the internet.
Someone will need to take it all apart to see why it stopped on you. To do it yourself, you may also need an electrical testing meter.
Be blessed.

Electric dryer won"t heat. Kenmore Heavy Duty 70

are you getting power down to the heater?why did you change all those other parts?you need to unplug the dryer, with a meter read out all the parts you changed out again but first make sure you have 240 volts coming to the machine, you can check it at the cord in the back, touch the white to the red,you should have 110 volts or 120,then go from the white to the black and you should have the same thing,if not the problem is in the house,if it's correct make sure you have power coming down to the heater, you could have a bad timer or a burnt wire, when you check the other parts unplug the dryer and whatever part you check at least one wire has to be removed,do this and you'll find your problem,if you did this first you wouldn't of bought all those parts.let me know what you find

Have a kenmore series 70 dryer. Won't shut off

Yes it deffinetley sounds like you may have a timer issue, if your timer stops and the dryer is running, or if the timer keeps going around and around this will be the problem, however there are thermostats inside the dryer and if you have it set on a HEAT and not a TIMED setting the thermostats won't advance the timer because they havent been set.Hope this helps

Thanks.

Kenmore 70 Series Dryer Model# 110.64742400

check the thermal fuse if it is blown also change the high limit thermal cut-off fuse www.repairclinic.com shows your parts. go there and enter model number. Also check the heat element. to get into it remove the lint filter and the two screws you'll see there then pry the top up at the front corners. And through the back you should find the heat element and blower housing and thermal fuse and high limit fuse and cycling thermostat.
