Problem with my Airtron Thermostat

I am having a problem with my 4 year-old AirTron/Bryant wallmounted unit. The display window on my downstairs unit no longerdisplays anything and the heater went off but the AC has turn on withoutshutting off. I've turned the AirTron switch to ''off'' yet the unit didnot turn off. The fan switch is on auto. After trying differentthings without any changes, I turned the circuit breaker off to keep theAC from blowing cold air continuously. I then purchased a new thermostatfrom Walmart and it still is doing the same things. Any ideas forrepair other than calling a technician just yet?

Two things, first go up to the heater and check the fuse inside the heater, looks like a car fuse. If that is not popped, then go outside to your AC unit and pull out the emergency disconnect. Check those fuses with a multimeter. IF you do not get anything replace those fuses, It has nothing at all to do with your thermostat.

I have a white Rodgers 1f88 300 thermostat (both upstairs and downstairs). The downstairs unit now shows a blank display. Is there a reset? I checked for a battery and it does not have one. Can you help?

Thank you for your interest with Emerson White Rodgers. My Name is Joselito Laxamana from technical department. To reset the thermostat by removing the wires from terminals R and C and removing batteries for 2 minutes. After resetting the thermostat,
replace the wires and batteries. If the thermostat has been reset and still does not function correctly contact your heating/
cooling service person or place of purchase.

I'm willing to bet a relay burned up. You likely have your tstat set to auto changeover, meaning it automatically goes from heat to cool to maintain desired set points??

Well you are naming 6 colors, where is 7?? I'm guessing you don't have a constant 24 going to the heat pump and there is no transformer outside. Send model number of indoor and outdoor, double check your wiring, double check your setup.

It has a panel hidden under the white fiber hearth bricks at the front bottom of the unit. you need to clean the lava rock off of them, pull both of them up, and then you will see the hidden linear cover that allows you to access the valve and light.

This should help you. You need to know if your thermostat is powered by the unit or independently and which way your reversing valve switches (I,m not sure on a Bryant, but probably Your old O wire goes to your new O terminal. They should pretty much match up, the new stat just has more options. Thermostat wiring

Any unit over 20 years is no longer energy efficient & it is past the lifespan of an AC. Get quotes from 3 different companies & go with best price with best warranty. I'm not partial to any particular manufacturer. They all get their parts from overseas.
