I have the same problem with the same tv and the problem almost always is at least one blown capacitor on the power board of the tv. U can see for yourself. (be sure the warranty is up for your tv first, if not get phillips to fix this for you) remove the back cover and then the metal top that cover the power board (you will see the red yellow and white AV plug jacks) in there is the power board, you can tell whether or not the capacitor is blown by looking at the top of it, it will be bulging out or leaking. This is an easy fix, u can get new capacitors from radioshack or stores similar to it.

Hi, if you have the original remote control unit, look for the key denominated "cc" close caption and press it once at a time until the caption indicates "off".

I have a philips 2005 tv model number 2DPT6441/37 closed caption stays on when we first turn the tv on. I can turn it off with the remote by hitting the cc button.

I'd be interested in the solution also my 20PT6245/37 (also a 2005) recently started doing this too. There must be some reset somewhere unless something fried. I use a universal remote, so noe I had to get the Factory remote back out, more of an annoyance now.

They don't build them like they used to ... Zenith Space Command SA 1923W (1984 Model) still going strong with a beautiful picture! Looks & works like new.

Power Supply Keeps Tripping Fuse

Freeze the capacitors is a trick worth trying. These usually are the problem

the way you run this is too use freeze spray to freeze each capacitor one at a time . Turn the TV on and if it doesn't trip for a few second longer you know that is the capacitor to change. Freezing capacitors only helps identify the fault if it is a capacitor issue (usually is with power on TV's)

An earlier post of the smaller model of this with the same problem said to remove the metal cover over the power supply.

I have the 26MF231D and it worked great afterward (even though you can't mount it)

Here is how you remove the cover.
