VGA driver can't find System Information for my computer

My VGA driver update process cannot find the system information for my computer. what do I need to do to allow this information to be supplied in the update? I have an e-machine t2798 machine. ty

Where to find driver versions in Windows


Windows is a versatile operating system environment, and there is almost always more than one way to access information. If you need to see what version of a specific device driver you have, there are two main ways to do it.

- System Information

The System Information utility contains a lot of information about your computer. You can find out everything from the maker of your BIOS to what print jobs are currently pending.

System Information can be accessed through the Start menu (Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Information). In Windows Vista or Windows 7, you can also type it in the Search bar.

You can view driver versions under either the Components heading -- where all of the driver info is displayed on the last line for each component -- or the Software Environments heading -- where all of the drivers are listed individually under System Drivers or Signed Drivers.

- Device Manager

The Device Manager is your one-stop shop for everything related to your computer's devices and components. For each device, you can view its current status, its driver version, as well as a basic troubleshooter.

To access Device Manager, type "devmgmt.msc" into the Run bar (or type "device manager" in the Search bar). When it opens, your devices will be broken into categories; just expand each category to see the individual devices, and double click on a device to view its properties. Driver information can be found under the Driver tab.

The Device Manager can also be found in the Computer Management console, which you can get to through the Control Panel, under Administrative Tools.

When you use a server or a workstation that is running one of the operating systems that is listed in the "Applies to" section, you may receive the following error message: STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The Windows Logon Process system process terminated unexpectedly with a status of 0xc0000034 (0x00000000 0x0000000)
The system has been shutdown. Note The parameters in parentheses are specific to your computer configuration and may be different for each occurrence. uparrow.gifBack to the top CAUSE The STOP 0xC000021A error occurs when either Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe fails. Wh... loadTOCNode(1, 'cause'); The STOP 0xC000021A error occurs when either Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe fails. When the Windows NT kernel detects that either of these processes has stopped, it stops the system and raises the STOP 0xC000021A error. This error may have several causes. Among them are the following:
  • Mismatched system files have been installed.
  • A Service Pack installation has failed.
  • A backup program that is used to restore a hard disk did not correctly restore files that may have been in use.
  • An incompatible third-party program has been installed.

RESOLUTION To troubleshoot this problem, you must determine which of these processes faile... loadTOCNode(1, 'resolution'); To troubleshoot this problem, you must determine which of these processes failed and why.

To determine which process failed, register Dr. Watson as the default system debugger (if it is not already the default debugger). Dr. Watson for Windows NT logs diagnostic information about process failures to a log file (Drwtsn32.log). Also, you can configure this program to produce memory dump files of failed processes that you can analyze in a debugger to determine why a process fails.

To set up Dr. Watson to trap user-mode program errors, follow these steps:
  1. At a command prompt, type System Root\System32\Drwtsn32.exe -I, and then press ENTER.

    This command configures Dr. Watson as the default system debugger.
  2. At a command prompt, type System Root\System32\Drwtsn32.exe, and then select the following options: Append to existing log file
    Create crash dump
    Visual Notification
  3. After the computer restarts from the STOP 0xC000021A error, run Dr. Watson (Drwtsn32.exe).
  4. View the Dr. Watson log to determine what user mode process may be causing the problem.
  5. If the Dr. Watson log does not contain sufficient information to determine the cause of the problem, analyze the User.dmp file to determine the cause of the STOP 0xC000021A error.

    If Dr. Watson did not create a User.dmp file for either Winlogon.exe or Csrss.exe, you may have to use a different tool to generate a memory dump file of the process that fails. For more information, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base: 241215 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/241215/ ) How to use the Userdump.exe tool to create a dump file Note Follow the instructions in the Knowledge Base article to troubleshoot a process that shuts down with an exception. While you follow these instructions, monitor the following processes to troubleshoot the STOP 0xC000021A error:
    • Winlogon.exe
    • Csrss.exe
    Note Most STOP 0xC000021A errors occur because Winlogon.exe fails. This typically occurs because of a faulty third-party Graphical Identification and Authentication (GINA) DLL. The GINA is a replaceable DLL component that Winlogon.exe loads. The GINA implements the authentication policy of the interactive logon model. The GINA performs all identification and authentication user interactions.
It is very common for certain types of remote control software to replace the default Windows GINA DLL (Msgina.dll). Therefore, a good first step is to examine the system to see if it has a third-party GINA DLL. To do this, locate the following registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Value = GinaDLL REG_SZ
  • If the Gina DLL value is present and if it is anything other than Msgina.dll, it probably means that a third-party product has changed this value.
  • If this value is not present, the system uses Msgina.dll as the default GINA DLL.
If this error first occurred after the installation of a new or updated device driver, system service, or third-party program, the new software should be removed or disabled. Contact the manufacturer of the software to see if an update is available. For more information about hardware and software vendor contact information, visit the following Microsoft Web site: - http://support.microsoft.com/gp/vendors (http://support.microsoft.com/gp/vendors) Last known good configuration loadTOCNode(3, 'resolution'); If the previous steps in this article do not resolve the problem, start the computer by using the last known good configuration. To start the computer by using the last known good configuration, follow these steps:Note Because there are several versions of Microsoft Windows, the following steps may be different on your computer. If they are, see your product documentation to complete these steps.
  1. Click Start, and then click Shut Down.
  2. Click Restart, and then click OK.
  3. Press F8 at the indicated time:
    • For an x86-based computer: When a screen of text appears and then disappears , press F8. (The screen of text may include a memory test, lines about the BIOS, and other lines.) There may also be a prompt that tells you when to press F8.
    • For an Itanium architecture-based computer: After you make your selection from the boot menu, press F8. There may be a prompt that tells you when to press F8.
  4. Use the arrow keys to select Last Known Good Configuration, and then press ENTER.

    NUM LOCK must be off before the arrow keys on the numeric keypad will function.
  5. Use the arrow keys to highlight an operating system, and then press ENTER.
Notes
  • Choosing the Last Known Good Configuration startup option provides a way to recover from problems such as a newly added driver that may be incorrect for your hardware. However, it does not solve problems that are caused by corrupted or missing drivers or files.
  • When you choose the Last Known Good Configuration option, only the information in registry key HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet is restored. Any changes you have made in other registry keys remain.

Blue Screen windows 7 PC closes with a Blue Screen and Restarts


There are a lot of possible causes for blue screen errors, but most of them relate to the computer hardware. The cause of a BSOD error can be a temperature problem, a timing error, a resource conflict, hardware failure, a corrupt registry, a virus or simply a device incompatibility or driver error.
How to analyze blue screen errors The first thing to do to analyze a blue screen error is to check the meaning of the STOP error code. You need to stop Windows from rebooting when a STOP error is encountered. Once the blue screen of death is shown, you can check the meaning of the STOP error code. Together with the filename of the driver or module, this will give an indication of the error cause.
Another option to analyze the cause of the blue screen error is to look at the Windows system event log or to debug the memory dump (minidump) that Windows created when the error occurred. The event log can be viewed using the event viewer. Right-click Computer in the Start menu, and then select Manage. In the Computer Management window select Event Viewer. The information in the event log can be of great help to isolate the cause of the blue screen error.
Reading the minidump requires a bit more technical knowledge, but Microsoft has tools to read the minidump.
The most common cause of blue screen errors In reality, the most common cause of blue screen errors is a device driver problem. Outdated, incorrect or corrupt drivers can cause the system to encounter a STOP error, resulting in the BSOD.
So the easiest way to try and fix a blue screen error is to reinstall and update your system's device drivers. This will ensure that all driver bugs are fixed and that all hardware has the correct driver.
If you know which device caused the error, you can update or reinstall that driver first. The file name in the blue screen of death can help identify the driver. Look for a file with the .SYS extension and search for that file name.
If you do not have the drivers for all devices, or are not comfortable updating your PC's drivers manually, you can use a driver update tool to find, download and update all device drivers for you. Such tools will accurately identify your computer hardware, including any device causing an error, and automatically install the latest drivers for it.
In most cases updating or reinstalling drivers will solve your blue screen errors.
Other causes of blue screen errors However, if updating device drivers does not fix the blue screen error, there are a number of additional things to try:
  • Load the default BIOS values - resource conflicts and timing issues can be caused by incorrect BIOS settings.
  • Update the BIOS - especially after adding new hardware or installing a Windows service pack this can help fix issues.
  • Update Windows - missing updates, including service packs can be a source of stop errors.
  • Check your system - run a virus scan and spyware scan after updating your definition files.
  • Driver rollback - if you have recently updated a driver, you can use the driver rollback to revert back to the previous driver version.

Here are 2 solutions:
Solution #1 Scan your registry for errors.
A Registry Cleaner scans your computer for errors in your PC's registry. Your computer's registry contains information about your Windows XP operating system, including driver, printer, software information. A corrupt registry will easily slow down the speed of your computer because applications and drivers are loaded even though they're not in use. Solution #2 Process of Elimination
When the CPU calls certain functions from the RAM, or Random Access Memory, and the data rests in a faulty section of the RAM, this will cause the blue screen to appear. I recall a time whenever my computer booted up and started loading the Norton Anti Virus program, the blue screen error message would appear. This happens because the CPU is accessing data from faulty locations within the RAM when loading the anti virus software.
This method involves having 2 sticks of RAM. Remove 1 stick of RAM and wait to see if the blue screen surfaces, do the same for the other.
Through process of elimination, you'll find the cause of the Windows XP blue screen of death error.
Because getting into the hardware can be a little techy for computer hardware "adverse" readers, a simple 2 step plan is to first clear your PC of any registry errors. Then if the blue screen of death goes away, we would have saved ourselves the trouble of having to open up the PC casing and touching the hardware components

Try looking up the model # for the diplay its self then goto the manufacture website for the display drivers. You should find the make and model # for the display in "systen information" click start goto "all programs" "accessories" "sysem tools" then "system information" GL hope this helps.

No sound . no drivers installed for multimedia audio controller


Please go to this link and follow this excellent tutorial that will guide you through the process of updating your drivers. Driver Tutorial
Then, find your Dell service tag # by going to Start/ Help & Support/ Computer Information and make a note of it.
Go to Dell at this link: Dell Driver Downloads and using the service tag code, look up the drivers for your system. You will be able to download and install them by following the steps detailed in the tutorial. That should do it.

double click on the .exe file and install it.
go to strat>>control panel>> system>>device manager.
deleted the VGA and restart the computer.
let the cmputer find the .ini file.
