Question about Dell PC Desktops
I'm getting a refurbished Dell GX280 with XP Pro. How can I bypass system/admin password since this is for home use only and don't want to be bother with PW. I have another PC with window xp home and I just leave the BIOS's security PW ''not set'' and the placeholder empty. Can I do the same? A friend of mine said xp pro requires system and admin PW' otherwise it will not run. Also, since this is a refurbish pc, the seller indicated that it will have xp pro pre-installed with a COA sticker on the pc and a restored cd. My qustion is how will this xp pro copy registered in my pc. In other word, when I go to ''My Computer'', will it has the previous owner's name and the license #, my name or blank? When I install programs, the installer usually enter the name of the registered owner. I don't want to keep replacing his/her name with my name.

Tips for a great answer:
Restart the computer. Repeatedly press the F8 key until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears. Select the Safe Mode option using the up and down arrow keys
then press the ENTER key. Choose "Windows XP Home/Professional" depending on the version of the operating system. Press ENTER. Shortly, the welcome screen should show.
Log in as "Administrator"
Click Yes to not use System Restore Mode.
Click the Start button. Choose Run and type in "control userpasswords" (without the quotes). Click OK
Select the "Administrator" user.
Click Change my password. Enter a new password in the corresponding text boxes.
Click OK. Write this password down and store it in a secure place. I do not recommend that a password hint be used.
Close the User Accounts window and restart Windows.
hope this helps
