Question about OKI MICROLINE 280 Elite Matrix Printer
Hi im using this printer with my DELL PC. it dose not print rite, when I do a Test print. It prints some ODD characters ( eg. @@@@@@@@@EQT@@@@@) . Ive tried changing the Pitch and Mode and still comes out with the same result.
I believe there is no problem with the comm's as the printer starts to print once the command is given.
Would be a great help if someone could shed some light on this
You have the Printer emulation set incorrectly. I think it comes as IBM as default and you should try Epson instead. Its a trial and error thing but am sure emulation is incorrect.

This printer is designed with a dual toner/drum chamber. Do not separate these two parts. Upon opening the lid, you will find the toner/drum assembly right in front of you. Pick it up with both hands and pull straight up. After that, you should be able to take the jammed papers. Know this: once a paper is jammed, printing another paper will NEVER take the first out. Just make sure to remove the complete papers. If they break, make sure you extract all the pieces.

Probably the monitor-chip on the board is working inproperly.
Consult the vendor or manufacuturer.
But before this, you may download new monitor driver from the manufacturer.

I just had this exact same problem - same printer, same Jetdirect model. Mine turned out to be the parallel printer mode setting inside the JetDirect. I connected to the configuraiton page by IP, then changed the Parallel mode from "AUTO" to "Centronics", tested it, and it worked fine after that. Hope it helps.
