HOW to install windows xp on intel dh61ho motherboad

Hello here is the homepage:

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Desktop+Boards&ProductLine=Intel%C2%AE+6+Series+Chipset+Boards&ProductProduct=Intel%C2%AE+Desktop+Board+DH61HO

In general, what you'll need to do is:
  • Turn off your computer.
  • Power on again
  • When you see the splash screen or BIOS menu (and before Windows starts to load), hit the Delete key.
This will typically either get you into a boot device menu or the BIOS settings where you should be able to select the device you want to boot from to adjust the boot order. In other words, your computer may normally try to boot first from the hard drive drive. But now you have to select to boot from the dvd drive. Save the changes, and then boot your computer again, this time without hitting any button and lay the windows disk in the dvd drive. If all goes according to plan, you should soon see a "Windows loading" message on your screen and press any key to install windows. You can follow the on-screen instructions to install Windows on your computer.
You also need to make a full format of the harddrive, and reboot again.

Look also in the manual how to setup the bios.

Here is some youtube video that shows how:

http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=how+to+install+windows+xp&oq=HOW+to+install+windows+xp&gs_l=youtube.1.0.0l10.1637.1637.0.3243.1.1.0.0.0.0.122.122.0j1.1.0...0.0...1ac.2.LqJatFrFwa4

When the installation is done, you have to install all the driver for the mainboard.Graphic, sound, chipset etc.

Good luck

Installed RAM and now monitor has no display. I

The splash screen with the LG Flatron logo is the monitor's splash screen not the PCs.
The machine is NOT booting up the splash screen is the monitor coming on.
Remove the 1Gb stick an see if the machine performs normally.
If it does then power it off, remove the power cord and CAREFULLY reinstall the new stick.
If it fails to boot you may have a defective memory module.
If the machine fails to boot with the new stick removed make sure you have the original memory seated properly and all cables securely attached

I have no idea why you would go from an agp to a pci. Agp has like 8x the banwidth of pci.I'll assume the agp slot went bad. If you can get into bios before you lose the display, change the display from agp to "init pci first",save & re-boot. See if that works, then when in windows install the drivers right away. If that doesn't work, during boot at the splash screen, press f8 & select "safe mode" with networking. This should let you get into windows so you can remove the old agp drivers, then re-boot into safe mode again & install the new drivers. Then re-boot normal & you should be ok. If not, that board has a big problem.

Hi i have tryed to flash bios on acer aspire L3600 and it crashed. how can i fix this? thanks alot

Hi,

This issue may occur if the Boot.ini file is missing, damaged, or contains incorrect entries.

To resolve this issue, start the computer from the Windows XP CD , start the Recovery Console, and then use the Bootcfg.exe tool to rebuild the Boot.ini file. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Configure the computer to start from the CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive. For information about how to do this, see your computer documentation, or contact your computer manufacturer.
2. Insert the Windows XP CD-ROM into your CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer.
3. When you receive the "Press any key to boot from CD" message, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD-ROM.
4. When you receive the "Welcome to Setup" message, press R to start the Recovery Console.
5. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the installation that you have to use from the Recovery Console.
6. When you are prompted, type the administrator password, and then press ENTER.
7. At the command prompt, type bootcfg /list, and then press ENTER. The entries in your current Boot.ini file appear on the screen.
8. At the command prompt, type bootcfg /rebuild, and then press ENTER. This command scans the hard disks of the computer for Windows XP, Microsoft Windows 2000, or Microsoft Windows NT installations, and then displays the results. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to add the Windows installations to the Boot.ini file. For example, follow these steps to add a Windows XP installation to the Boot.ini file:
1. When you receive a message that is similar to the following message, press Y:
Total Identified Windows Installs: 1

[1] C:\Windows
Add installation to boot list? (Yes/No/All)
2. You receive a message that is similar to the following message:
Enter Load Identifier
This is the name of the operating system. When you receive this message, type the name of your operating system, and then press ENTER. This is either Microsoft Windows XP Professional or Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
3. You receive a message that is similar to the following:
Enter OS Load options
When you receive this message, type /fastdetect, and then press ENTER.

Note The instructions that appear on your screen may be different, depending on the configuration of your computer.
9. Type exit, and then press ENTER to quit Recovery Console. Your computer restarts, and the updated boot list appears when you receive the "Please select the operating system to start" message. Let me know, if need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
