hey not sure what the d51822 brand name is I work on bostitch as a service tech. so well the obvious question with the details you've given 45 degree angle? so are they bent over to get that angle? not sure how they can come out straight and get bent. ok the nose ( where the nail comes out) is it completely flat on the board? if so I would be nearly impossible to create a 45 angle. not doubting you. I work on F28WW bostitch thinking they are similar so, check the bolts on the top (loose or damaged) or the nose its self see if it is bent. it would be only slight because otherwise the driver ( what pushes the nail in) would get jammed and not fire at all .try that first thinking the nose is bent and if its bent its junk. because cracks are next and that's when really bad things happen fast.
first disassemble the bottom 4 screws and behind the nail transporter after that disassemble the front and look how the nails are jammed with a little screwdriver or pincer or any tool that can be used , the quality of the steel is good of the steel don,t be affraid but if the pinion is jammed in the guide make it a little hotwarm and spray some lubrication on it on that place and try to with a light hammer and a flat pinpunch to to beat back the pinion(driver) at last disassemble the top to remove the pinion driver observe this for damages on the point replace if something is strange on the point or the pinion is benden but thats not happens oft.
Hi Johnny, First thing to do is make sure that the tool cannot fire any nails. so remove the airline or, if it's a gas powered (Fuel Cell) tool remove the battery and fuel cell.
If you can, try and remove any of the nail that you can. Then CAREFULLY try and push the driver back into the cylinder. This may take some time. Sometimes we end up having to strip the tool down to remove the magazine, this will allow better access to the stuck nail. So far, I've never been stuck doing this but.....
Ok you took the stuck nail out of the gun where it was stuck with the driver, yes. If so, Take air off,, take a long skinny screw driver and stick it in said hole and check to see if driver has returned the stroke backwards to a ready to fire position. If you feel the driver still forward push it backwards all the way. Remove all tools,, load a clip, hook the air hose and fire. if you get a nail (success) but if it fails after this shot and the same problems start all over again the chances are the driver is broken..
Sometimes cannot be done. Best chance to remove a stuck nail is to do following. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder leaving only the body with the stuck driver. Place the body on piece of hard plywood on a concrete floor. Make sure that the body is making full contact on the plywood. I use an old driver from framing nailer and a large copper or brass hammer (I have a 5 lb brass hammer). insert the old driver into the nose of the gun with the concave part of the driver toward the side where the nail is stuck. This will allow the stuck driver to move down and not jam the driven driver. Spray wd40 or similar followed by a spray of carb cleaner and let soak in. The carb cleaner will help the oil go deeper into the jam. Hold the old driver with a pair of vicegrips and while making sure the body stays square to the plywood, give it a solid blow. If no movement after couple of hits, lube again and wait few minutes. Make sure that you are on solid floor because this will not work on a bench. If hammer blows do not move the driver carefully apply heat to area of nose where the nail is stuck with turbo torch or similar. I do not like to apply heat unless last resort. Good luck
Depending on amout of use, driver blades do need to be ground square or replaced to make full contact with the nail head . There could be other factors causing problem however. The nails do need to align with the path of the driver. Make sure that the first nail is directly under the path of the driver. If the nails are not made correctly or the wrong nails are in the gun, the angle of the nails may be preventing full contact of the driver to nail head. Good luck
If a nail is stuck between the driver and nose of the gun, you will need to forcefully push the driver back into the gun. Remove the head and cylinder and place the body of the gun on piece of plywood with nose pointing up. Using very sturdy steel rod, hammer the driver down. The steel rod needs to be slightly thinner than the driver to allow for the stuck nail. I use a broken driver ground thinner on the side that will need to bypass the stuck nail. Careful when striking hard steel with hammer, could spinter (I use a heavy brass hammer). Good luck
