Model number(D-44) with balance of the serial number...It was offered between 1957 and 1959. I have a S-44 model... You should consider converting sprocket to accomodate a 3/8" or .404 in. pitch chain.. Original 7/16" pitch no longer available..

Hey Bro..I also have this S-44 McMonster but your comment was cut short on here so I could'nt tell what year you might've said it was made. I need an electrical rebuild cause this is one of my fav saws & I've got alot of time invested to just give up now. Where should I go with questions & for parts?...

McCulloch 14" chain saw Model CS 38 EM It quit

Most often there is a dust-oil clog in the bottom of the bar slot which closes an oil passage between the bar slot and the hole drilled half way through the side of the bar. This provides a passage between the thin shim plate with the two bar bolt holes beside the bar and through to the oil tank or pump output. You can remove the bar and chain and punch out the blockage in the bar with a paper clip if the chain is removed. Make sure the wire can be pushed from the bar slot right through the side hole in the bar. A gravity feed chainsaw should leak right out into the slot of the shim plate, a button pumper should squirt out there with the bar removed. With a button pumper you may have a tiny check valve in the line or the push button to take apart, replace the spring or unstick the ball inside the check valve. This is why they went to the gravity feed oil system which just leaks in there and gets picked up by the bottom of the links as the chain races past the passage between the bar side hole and the chain slot.

What are the carb. adjs. on a Mc culloch chain saw model cs 38em

If it bogs down like it's getting too much fuel, turn the low side screw out about 1/8 of a turn at a time until it will rev without bogging. If it chokes down like it's not getting any fuel, you probably need to open up the high screw a little.

BTW, you can determine which screw is which by looking at the carb at the base of the screw...it will have a L for Low or H for High stamped near it.

I just got a 14 inch McCulloch electric chain saw and it did not have a manual, I do not know what type of oil it takes.

You provide no model number so my answer is limited. Use "Bar and Chain" oil available at most home centers and hardware stores.

You can likely find an OM for your saw here: If the entire model does not work try just the numbers then choose from the list provided.

Where can I get a free online service manuel for this chain saw Model CS38EM. The chain got jammed and I've stripped it but now problem to reassembled it in original order.

I thought it was electric. Now I think it is a MTD McCulloch. A McCulloch example of model number "21-600038-76" follows (may not be your saw):
http://www.ordertree.com/modelinfo/MCC/21-600038-76-Mac-3816-IPL-211318-01/139.21-600038-76-Mac-3816-IPL-211318-01.1.59.1.html

A less detailed IPL that includes other 600038 models follows: Page 1 is illustrated, does it look like your saw?
McCulloch MTD
Chainsaws 32cc-35cc-38cc Anti-Vibe

This explains construction of an IPL number, MTD and Husqvarna models often deviate from the explanation.

McCulloch electric pole chain saw manual model 1510

McCulloch Manuals
Illustrated Parts Lists: (IPLs) are fairly simple, on the underside of McCulloch saws is a black and yellow tag; the upper number (“Power Mac 320” 600021H) is the model, below it a serial number (11-18555). These 2 numbers are combined to create an IPL number (“Power Mac 320” IPL number = 11-600021H). The IPL number can be used to find the correct IPL for every McCulloch parts supplier I have found. If the parts supplier only list part numbers the proper IPL is the source for the part number.
Operators Manuals: are much more difficult. I have dialed this number many times (Contact Us - All McCulloch Products 1 (800) 521-8559) and have yet to get a satisfactory response. Please try this! If enough of us try they will fix it! HTH

Please stress to phone person it is an electric.

Trying to find side cover and pull rope for a 18 inch mcculloch chain saw mark

You need to create "YourIPLNumber" to utilize the supplier at the bottom.

Mcculloch em300s electric chain saw stopped oiling the chain. I noticed the oil had all flowed out in storage shed and when I refilled it and used it I noticed the chain and bar were dry.

This is a little complicated so I’m going in small steps.
http://www.m-and-d.com/parts.html
Click “Illustrated Parts Diagrams ON LINE”
Click “Click Here for Parts Lookup”
Changes to “Select OEM” Window reads “Briggs & Stratton ▼” Click the arrow and select “McCulloch Power”
Click “Electric Chain Saws” The model number of your saw is probably on a tag affixed to the bottom. The tag also displays the serial number.
If it is a 300S the hyphen is the bar length.
I looked at the 300S-16 (same oiler parts as -14)
  1. Remove the clutch cover, bar, and chain, clean the bar groove, any holes and passages on the rear of the bar (both sides, consider rotating the bar) Clean the saw’s oiler hole and channel. Start the saw and see if it oils when revved up. If yes reassemble your saw. If no, continue with 2.
  2. Item 15 has a filter on the bottom check it first, insert a blunted, hooked piece of wire through the oil filler hole and pull the hose in the oil tank out (clean or replace, difficult to determine serviceability). If good I’d look closely at item 17. I can’t get enough detail from the IPL but that is the logical culprit.
Oil systems on all Mac Electrics appear pretty basic. Good Luck
