Replacing a fan on a Sony PCG-6G4L notebook

I need help replacing a fan on a Sony PCG-6G4L notebook. I've taken all the screws necessary to see the fan but I am stumped on how to replace my fan with a new one.
Any suggestions on how this is done will be appreciated.
Access to a service manual for this model would be great.
Thank you for looking.

You can download manuals, etc. at http://esupport.sony.com/ You can also order parts from there. There are several models listed for the PCG-6G4L that you specify, so I can't be as specific as I'd like to be, but you will be able to find it easily and put your new fan in :-)

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

I would try getting a firmware update for the system, if that does not work the motherboard maybe the issue. It might be time to replace the laptop.
Good Luck.

Cooling fan stopped working

any 18-20 volt laptop charger should work only need correct power plug and that can be easily changed if necessary with soldering iron and volt meter. using old charger plug as replacement. volt meter is used to check out correct polarity of plug before and after you re solder plug on.generally outside is -ve and center is +ve ,alternatively go to ebay or google and type in Sony Vaio PCG 7Q1M charger,or type in part number ,or try 18-20v laptop charger, that is what I do when I need a replacement charger, cost around $10 delivered usually.

Loud vibrating fan

This could be a fan with worn or loose bearing, could also have loose mounting screws. Check the fan and heatsink assembly, mounting screws, replace the fan if necessary and clean and remove the dust from the heatsink and vents.

Sony pcg-k35 cleaning

I had to figure this out not long ago.
First you need to pry up the piece of plastic trim that covers the speakers at the top of the keyboard.
Next romove the screws that hold in the keyboard. they will all be along the top of the keyboard.
Once that is out of the way. Remove the screws that secure the metal sheild plate and remove the plate.
You can now see the two fans. If you follow the air ducting from the fans there will be some peices of a tape like material that once pulled back will give you access to the airway to the cooling fins. This is were you will use compressed air to blow out dust build up.
It is also a good idea to clean the fan blades.
Once this done, replace the tape covers and reassemble.
I hope this helps because I couldnt find any info on this on the web.
