Oven burner seems to have low flame

Broiler works fine with ample pressure, bottom oven seems to give off very little flame. Sometimes half the burner is not lit. Oven takes forever to reach temp.

Check voltage to gas valve in the back of the boiler compartment. It is way in the back on the left hand side, turn on the top burners. If you do not get any volts or only 1 to 5 volts you will need to replace, It is supposed to have 24 volts to operate correctly

How do you know the ignitor is fine? The ignitor for the oven is different than that of the burners. Rather than clicking, the oven ignitor will glow red. If when you turn of the oven you don't see a source of red light coming from under the oven bottom your ignitor is bed.

When i turn my oven on, the flames come up into

If the burner pressure is adjustable(some are not) you can use a small adjustable wrench to turn the gas orfice to lower the gas pressure. The orfice is usually located in the broiler/storage comaprtment at the very bottom of the range. It is the brass piece that goes into the burner venturri and is where the gas comes out. If your turn it clockwise it will decrease pressure & counter clockwise will increase pressure. If the flames are coming into the burner compartment that is quite an increase in pressure!!! Make sure the the range did not have the gas regulator removed. If it was then that would explain why the oven burner pressure is so high.

GE jgs968 range seems to be working fine except the oven, broiler works fine

OK, it is likley that the oven ignitor isn't working and needs to be replaced. To verify if this is the problem, when you turn on the oven to BAKE and set the temp at say, 350. Watch through the window, (or you can have the door open). Look at the bottom, back, center and see if you see a bright orange glow appearing under the bottom panel.

If you don't, that is why the oven won't lit the gas. There is an ignitor for both the broiler burner at the top and for the bake burner in the oven compartment.

The good news is that your oven uses the same ignitor for both the broiler and bake burner tubes, so you could swap them if you wish to confirm that is the problem before you go and order/buy a new one. These aren't cheap at $91 bucks, but you can shop around the web for a better price if you determine you need one.

Please note that sometimes the ignitor burns out half way through but because it still lits/glows, people think it's OK, but it won't get hot enough to signal the gas valve to open and allow gas to ignite and get the oven cooking. That's why it's always a good idea to swap ignitors to verify you have a faulty one.

If you want to see what the part is for your oven, go to searspartsdirect.com and enter in your model number to view the line drawing for your oven along with the parts list.

Hope that helps and best regards!

Lp flames to top of oven

You need to tighten down the orifice spud for the bake burner. Remove drawer in bottom of oven. Look for bottom of burner tube, where the shutter adjustment is. Right below it is the orifice spud. Usually a goldish color. Take 1/2 inch open end wrench and tighten until it stops. Do-not overtighten! Try it now. If flames are still to high, tighten a little more. Repeat if needed.
