My phillips magnavox tv is not working right. when you turn it on you see 3 horizontal lines red blue and cant tell if the other is white or yellow then the picture shoes up only in the center section of the screen the top is black and the bottom is black it looks like the picture is folded on top of itself on top and bottom the channel is upside-down, but after a while the picture starts to unfold and then it evebtually looks normal. is there a part I can buy and repalce to fix this?

Without proper callibration equipment, this is not a end-user fix.
Phillips is a brand most techs will not touch - as they are prone to re-failure.
Your best option is to find a local repair tech that will take on the workload.
There is not too much circutry in a CRT tv, and it is evident your controller is going bad.
If you feel inclined - open the shroud and look for damaged capacitors on the invertor board. Also check for cracked solder joints.

Hi..the reason to this problem is there is some
fault in your main board. When you get those lines
in your tv it should be the fault in your main circuit
board.you have to check the soldering, that is don in the
board is without any fault. Then u say about the picture
size that it looks black at the above and below the screen.
This may be due to the viewing option.your tv has various
viewing option.u would have switched up to some other view,
that's why it looks like that.select the view which u prefer.
This will solve your problem.
check this out..
thank u..

Hard reset- unplugging tv for about 5-10 minutes and see if that clears up the problem. Because they have microprocessors in them (computer chips) and just as like with any other operating system, they can hang up or crash. Unplugging it for awhile resets the microprocessor .

Red and blue ghosting,

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture

You can see some more examples and find a fix herebb0cf99.png http://www.fixya.com/support/r2861467-solution_video_looking_whiteish_dull

I have a phillips tube t.v that shows a wavy horizontal line

If the set works fine intermittently it may be a loose connection or a bad solder joint. More likely the later. Heat will sometimes make a cold or broken solder joint work. If this changes when you lightly tap on the side of the TV you have a bad connection of sorts inside. These repairs can be expensive unless you find a good repair person.
The syncronizing signals in TV's (keeping the picture locked in) are around the high voltage transformer which is usually the heaviest component attached to the circuit boards. It's stressful over time and I've seen the solder connections crack and become intermittent.

Tv showing blue screen with flyback lines sound ok

Flyback lines? Is the picture all white with no brightness control with faint horizontal faint lines? If this is what you are saying, the screen voltage could be bad, and if thats the case, the picture tube or the flyback itself could be bad. You could also have a bad connection on the crt socket
