Hp c7180 printer does not recognize new ink cartridge

Empty ink cartridge message continues with new cartridge installed and so won't print in colour. Can this be fixed?

Ink level indicator suggested yellow cartridge was empty. Replaced with new HP cartridge but received same message. Cleaned all contacts on the cartridge and the printer but with no success. After doing some research on the subject it seems that this is a recurring problem with the HP 7180. Is there any solution?

The printer will not recognize the yellow cartridge after installing a new one.

    Solution
Follow the steps below until the issue is resolved.

Step one: Check the serial number on the printer

Check the serial number of the printer on the UPC sticker. The UPC sticker is located either on the back or the bottom of the HP All-in-One product.

If the serial number does not begin with MY66xxxxxx, MY67xxxxxx, or MY68xxxxxx, then check the HP Web site for more information on the Ink cartridge(s) are empty message.
If the serial number of the printer begins with one of the above combinations, then proceed to the next step.

Step two: Try a new ink cartridge

Check the color of the icon shown on the display. Replace the ink cartridge shown on the printer display with a new ink cartridge.
If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.

    Step three: Service the product

If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

    Cause

The yellow ink sensor could be corroded and giving a false message.

I have the "yellow ink corrosion" syndrome in my C7180, and along with everybody else I've given up waiting for an answer that doesn't ultimately require me to trash the entire machine.

How come the design is so ludicrously primitive that an average owner cannot replace a corroded inkjet, or even the whole bar of inkjets? What's so corrosive about yellow ink that it screws up the machines of hundreds of HP customers and how come HP has done nothing about it?

Since www.hp.com/support is already stamped into the metal bar of inkjets, it's clear that HP anticipates trouble from the get-go --- and a lucrative market in repairs priced only slightly below the cost of a new machine. I've been through this process with HP and I'm disgusted.

I find it cynical, manipulative and shameful.

False ink empty

Are you sure its exclamation mark?..
This warning message related to print head. (warn out). When you are replacing ink tube assembly use dummy print heads to do the priming (new ink tubes are empty & they have to fill with ink)..
Action: Remove all cartridges and print heads, switch on the printer follow the screen message.(Insert cartridges first next dummy print heads).once its recognizes cartridges then it switch over to print heads, insert dummy print heads. Once printer recognized the dummy print heads, printer will perform priming, during priming dummy print heads will filled with respective inks.(follow the display message)Remove dummy print heads & insert normal print heads. Wait till printer recognizes print heads, load the paper & wait till performs the calibration, once calibration is successfully done issue closed.
If calibration not successfully done, check align print out for which print head is not printed properly, replace it..
Pl ensure that minimum 50% ink levels required in cartridges before performing the priming. Best of luck..

I have changed the colour ink on my canon mp460 but it still say empty

CL41, this is the one you are using for your cartridge.

Did you change your cartridge with brand new one or refilled one??

If you did with refilled one, the ink level won't go back with full.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This is the method how printer measures the ink level.

1. Each cartridge has a serial number.
2. As soon as installation in printer, printer recognizes the cartridge by serial #.
3. And the printer starts to count the printing document.
4. After reaching certain print counting, the ink level will show "low ink"

So my answer is even if you refilled your cartridge, the ink level won't change,
since printer cannot weight the cartridge or.....some other technology to measure each color ink level.

Thanks.

I replaced an ink cartridge because the printer stopped working and showed a message that the old cartridge is empty. However after putting the new one in but the printer still refuses to work and shows...

maybe the cartridge is wrong, release it and clean the electrical contacts, put them again one by one, if notting happen, try this
Solution As the printer operates, it moves ink from the ink cartridges into a printhead reservoir. The printer does not deliver a message when an ink cartridge goes empty, because it still has ink in the reservoir. The printer continues printing until the ink level in the reservoir falls to a first trigger point - then a message appears advising the printer owner to Replace Cartridges Soon . At this point, other cartridges that are empty but have not reached the trigger point are also mentioned in the message, to save trips to the retailer. After the first trigger point, the printer can continue printing until ink levels in the reservoir reach a second trigger point. At the second trigger point there is only enough ink left to perform vital servicing tasks, and a new message appears, saying Ink Cartridges Empty . The options offered depend on the usable inks remaining. If no options are offered, the cartridges indicated must be replaced before printing can continue. The Ink Cartridges Empty options are described in the table below: Ink colors out Option Print mode possible All Cancel None Black

AND

Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow (any or all) Black only Continue with other colors Cyan/Magenta/Yellow mode (composite black)

Text and photo quality will differ from those printed when all colors are available Light Cyan or Light Magenta (either or both) Cyan, Magenta, or Yellow (any or all)

(Black still available) Print with black ink only Grayscale

Hp c7820 printer 02 black catridge

Open the printer and remove the ink. Clean around the ink carriage and the under the ink with alcohol and a cotton swab. Pay special attention to areas with copper contacts. Keep in mind too that some printers will not print, even with full ink, if the exact type of ink it expected you to have installed is not right. Double check that the ink is correct against the manual or written instructions inside the printer using the number not the shape or color of the cartridge. Not every cartridge that fits the printer necessarily works.

I have the error message that it can not recognize the ink cartridge and it is blocking me from using the macine in any function. I have removed the ink cartrdige and it still says it cannot recognize...

An ink tank which has once been empty is
installed. Replace the applicable ink tank with
a new one.
Printing with a once-empty or refilled ink
tank can damage the print head.
If printing is continued without replacing the
refilled ink tank, press the Stop/Reset button
for 5 sec. or longer to record the use of a
refilled ink tank.

HP6180 Printer. I keep getting an error message, Ink cartridge em

Hi,

some cartridges are charged up ( have a chip fitted to them )
If the chip is not charged to tell the printer it,s full of ink. this will cause the problem.
have you tried. unplugging the printer from the mains. then powering it back up.
also try using the printers own software to add new cartridges et,c.
you could also try re-installing the printers drivers/software if you have it,s instalation disk.

C7180 Print in color without all cartridges

You can usually print with an empty cartridge, even though the software will inform you that the cartridge is empty. Your print quality may be affected, however.
