Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, prior to replacing any component, perform a visual inspection with the rear cover removed and the unit unplug for some time (discharged). Most electrolytic capacitors are can type with a flattened top. Obvious defect would be manifested by bulging, cracked, oozing, leaking, split casing and powdery accumulation on one of the pins coming out from the rubber bottom.

Of course, best approach would be to compare/reference the service manual or at least a schematic diagram with voltage readings.

Good luck and thank you for using FixYa.

As proposed, you would need to visually inspect the capacitors. There would be several and basing on the initially described conditions, you would be able to identify the faulty capacitor(s).

A known common fault (which may or may not apply to your concern) would be the capacitor in the power supply section. This image would show you where. It would be the bulging top capacitor bottom center between 2 aluminum blacks/heatsinks. A resized image is shown below. Pls note the bulging tops.

Additional insights/discussion of similar concern may be gleamed from here. Interestingly, another member of the FDixYa community gooruflash has addressed a nearly identical problem here.

Hi,

before attempting anything, it seems to me that since you asked about the "electronic board" that you may not be very familiar with electronics especially tvs which can be quite dangerous. There are multiple boards on this tv and in this case I would replace the power supply itself and it would be the board that would have the faulty capacitors. This board is located in the middle of the back of the tv and if you don't know how to replace a capacitor, then it would be easier to replace the board. The bad ones will be swollen at the top. Also you could test them with an appropriate capacitance meter if you had one to confirm that they are bad. The numbers will be right on the capacitors if you choose to just replace them, but again if you have no experience, then don't do it yourself.

I have phillips 42pf9631d/37 that wont turn on and blinks red seven times

I have the model Philips 37PF7320A/37 won't turn on and MOST articles on the Internet say it's the Capacitors capictors capictors..I checked all of them.

MINE WAS RESISTOR no. 3318 , a 100 OHM RESISTOR ON POWER SUPPLY BOARD.

I BOUGHT REPLACEMENT FOR .99 CENTS SOLDER IT, AND EVERYTHING WORKED!!!

THAT WAS ALL IT TOOK.

JUST A SUGGESTION..
1. CHECK FOR BULGING CAPACITORS (90 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEM)
2. THEN CHECK FOR RESISTORS WITH MULTIMETER ( FALLS INTO THE OTHER 10 PERCENT OF THE PROBLEM.)

TELL ME IF THAT HELPS..normanw1@yahoo.com

Tv wont turn on

loud noise ? ! just indicate that the main power supply capacitors are bad, or sometimes is just the ceramic filters.
undo the back and check for any blow capacitor or burned components.

TV will not turn on, the light goes from green to red.

I own the same model. You have 1-2 Blown Capacitors. Take off the back cover, And look towards the center of the main power board. Look towards the center of this, and there are 2 capacitors side by side. You should see them swollen at the tops, even maybe a little black residue that has come out. I soldered on 2 new ones, and bingo! I would suggest replacing them both.
